Here we go again!
Mar 31, 2009
I saw a dietitian 2 days ago because I just couldn't get the weight to move! We discussed Protein, carbs, and calories. I am starting today to keep a food diary again and walking. The weather is getting nice, so I will be working outside more. I would like to loose 17 more pounds. Since I am almost 6 years out, it is harder to get back on track. Hope no one gives me candy for Easter because I am a carbaholic!!

HAW's Blog

Hi, Friends,
This is the first time I have ever blogged, so please, bear with me.
I started this weight loss journey as a pre-teen. Since I am 57, it has been a long time. After 9/11 I decided nothing in this world is certain and I needed to do something about my weight in order to stop other health problems that were creeping up on me. So in 2002 I attended a seminar given by Dr. Hess in Bowling Green, OH. He had done and was perfecting BPS with DS. By January 2003 I had decided I wanted the surgery because his success rate was over 90%. I also had talked to other people who had had the procedure and they were doing great.
The first three months were very difficult. After the week in the hospital, I could go home because I only lived 20 min. away and had family to help me. The worst part was the metallic taste everything, including water, had. The 2nd month, when I could add solids to my diet, the first time I would try anything, it would come right back up. But a week later, if I tried that food again, it would stay down. During the third month, I started feeling much better and foods were staying down. Losing the weight was fabulous! The only down side was that my family doctor kept telling me that I had to eat more. While Dr. Hess and Dr. Oakley were telling me that I was doing just fine. Getting a double message was not a help. I lost 150 lbs.
