Made it!

Feb 22, 2008

About 2 wks ago I made it to Dr Irgau's goal of 160.  Im wearing a size 8 in Jeans from Old Navy and Med top.  Never did I ever think I would get this far.  I am very happy with my decision to have this surgery.  Im looking forward to summer and being thin!  I would love to have PS one day and have a flat tummy.  But if it doesnt happen, I am ok with where I am at.  Still going to the gym.   I had to take 2 wks off because I had a problem with my blood sugar and I passed out and put my head thru the wall. I have whiplash from that and am having pain in my ribs.  It sucks because it hurts to move and I cant pick my son up.  I still would like to lose about 10 more because I am at the highest part of my wt range.

1 yr + update

Dec 26, 2007

Well its been a busy few months. Hubby and I went on a 9N cruise at the end of October, then came back for 2 wk and headed off to Punta Cana for Thanksgiving.  It was nice to have alone time with him.  I just finished with Fire school and I passed my County and my State exam.  Graduation is 1/7/08 at SCC.  Im down 141 Lbs and I am wearing size 10 jeans (no stretch) and Medium pants for my gym clothes.

Dr Irgau got on me for not exercising at my 1 yr check up so I joined the Gym in PV.  I get up at 5am 4-5 mornings a wk.   I dont want to gain this weight back so Im determined to continue exercising.    He was very happy with my weight loss so far and asked if I could talk at one of his upcoming seminars on WLS.  Im very excited about that.  I have about 10 more to get to his goal for me, and 15-20 to be at my goal.  I want to be far enough away from 200 as I can be!!

The skirt

Aug 01, 2007

I went to Walmart with my mom on Sunday 7/29/07 and I saw a Khaki skirt on the rack that I kinda liked.  Well I grabbed a 14, and said what the heck, and took a 12 with me too.. Well guess what!! The 12 fit me!!  and it wasnt stretchy either. A regular 12.  OMG..  I was squeezing myself into 26's there before surgery.. and got into a 12 skirt.  What a wonderful feeling!  It totally made my weekend.

8 months post op

Tomorrow will be 8 months for me, and as of today I am down 113 pounds.  Ive finally made it under 200.  Only 38 more to go until I get to my surgeons goal wt.   I feel good, loving life!  I dyed my hair Auburn Brown, and it was very different for me.  But was a little bit too bright, so I toned it down, and went dark brown.  I really think I like it though.  I love shopping for clothes now! It feels good to go into a store and try on 14's and have them fit.  I hold up pants or shorts, and think they wont fit me.. And I get them on!! Its the best thing in the world!

I went for my 6 mo check up with Dr. Irgau. He said everything was great, and that Ive lost 60% of my excess weight already.  He said he almost didnt recognize me.  Ive lost 98 pounds.  I went shopping today with one of my girlfriends to Old Navy.  It was nice to be able to go in there and find stuff that actually fits.  I spent $150!!  I dont know if Im totally comfortable in some of the things I bought.  Im not used to having fitted clothes. Its hard remembering to suck in my stomach. Im used to just being relaxed.  But with the way they make clothes now, you have to be sucked in!  I guess it will be a good workout for my abs!! I actually bought 2 sleeveless shirts, and one is a tube top!! Holy Sh*t!! hahah..

So I still have no regrets, no problems, and feel great!!

2 days shy of being 5 mo out

Apr 15, 2007

Well on Tuesday I will be 5 months post op and I am down 86 lbs. I feel wonderful.  Im having a hard time getting into an exercise routine.  But when I get to the FH I really like running on the eliptical. It feels so good when I do it, why cant I get my butt there more often?  So Ive been feeling the need to go find more clothes, so I headed for my basement.  This morning I pulled out some shirts that I was wearing when I met my hubby, and well they fit!! WooHoo!!  They are 14/16's !! So in the wash they went.  I cant wait to wear them!!   My new Short term goal is to be down 14 more lbs by June 1st.  Keep your fingers crossed!!

Well I only lost one lb this week, but Im ok with that.  Its still going in the right direction. My total so far is 66lbs since surgery, but I am 100 lbs down from my highest weight, The day I delivered our son Jake.  I went to the Firehouse tonight and rode the bike for 10 mins and did 20 mins on the eliptical.  About 5mins before I was done one of the guys from the FH came up there and started using the bowflex. Talk about awkward,  but I didnt care, I continued to do my thing and ran the rest of my time.  I cut my workout short because he was using the bowflex and I didnt feel like waiting for him to finish.  Im really going to try hard this week and go atleast 3x.  When I started I was almost dead after 2 mins on the eliptical, it feels good that I am up to 20, and probably could have kept going.

I went to Kohls today to try and find another pair of jeans like the last ones I bought from there, When I found my 20's I should have bought 18's too, they were only $13!  All the pants I found today were $28 +.  I just cant bring myself to spend that much on a pair of pants Im only going to wear a month or so! Guess I'll deal with a droopy but for a little longer!

I am down 58 lbs since surgery and a size 20.  I was wearing 26-28 and 4x shirt from Catherines and I just bought a 1x top off the clearance rack there . Woo Hoo!!

Im still wearing some of my 24's and its weird to walk around with a droopy butt and to be hiking up my pants constantly, but soooo worth it!!!

We went to Disney World last week, and I felt great, I didnt get worn out like I used to, and was able to keep up with my hubby.  Its wonderful to have so much more energy!! Oh and the seatbelt fit on the plane, and I sat next to a stranger on the way down, and there was room between us!!!!!!!!!!!   And I wasnt afraid to ride the coasters like I used to be . I'll have to see what its like at a regular amusement park, since I stopped going when the seatbelts were too tight or didnt fit at all.  I was in panic mode the whole time I used to ride, praying that the belt would stay buckled and I wouldnt fall out!!!

Friday will be 7 wks for me and as of today I am down 42 lbs!! I feel wonderful!

About me...

Nov 21, 2006

7/14/06 Been overweight most of my life, Lost some after HS and was down to a 16 some 14's and wearing regular misses clothes. I met the man I was going to marry, changed jobs and have gained a ton of weight. Im not as heavy as I was when I delivered our son 2 yrs ago, but have gained 15 lbs since my pre preg weight. I just found out that my Insurance (Aetna HMO) will cover the surgery, our previous plan didnt cover it. SO.. I have made an appt with a nutritionist for 7/19/06 to get my 3 mo supervised wt loss rolling. I called Dr Wynn's office the other day and they said they werent calling people back to schedule consultations until afer Sept 1, Well Yesterday I got a call and they have made an appointment to see me and my mom together for 7/25!! Yippee!
My hubby and I were trying to have a 2nd baby and I had an appt scheduled for a Reproductive endocrinologist, but have cancelled because I would really like to have wls. I want to be able to run after my kids and play with them and not be exhausted. I want to be able to walk up and down stairs and not get winded, not have my ankles and knees hurt. I dont want to get diabetes or die of a heart attack. Im only 26 and I feel like Im 36.

10/10/2006 I met with Dr Irgau back in July and I really liked him. I decided to go with St Francis hospital because Im not a big fan of christiana. I went to the initial class on WLS and then began my 12 weeks of nutrition. I am currently on week 8. I have clearances from all the other doctors and my last thing is my EGD which is scheduled for next monday 10/16. I had a sleep study and have mild apnea but doesnt need to be treated and he said once I lose the weight it will go away. Dr Adeleke did my cardiac clearance, and Lisa Slade Martin did the psych eval. I had an EGD scheduled back in september but cancelled because I was going to go with lapband, but have since changed my mind and Im going with the gastric bypass now. Oh, and I also have a date!! November 17th!! 2 days after my birthday!! Yeah me!!!

So I went in this am to have my EGD. I was all hooked up and ready to go and the anaestesiaologist asked me if there ws any chance that I could be pregnant, and I just kinda looked at him.  Im never really regular and last month was 40+days before AF came.  Well it had been about that long and I said well I doubt it but you never know since Im so Irregular.  Well I had to wait for the HCG test to come back, and well its positive.  Talk about shock.  My mom and I just looked at each other in aww. Could not believe it. Hubby and I tried for about 2 years and I even did those fertility drugs again and nothing.. Now 1 month before sugery and Im pregnant.  SO the surgery is postponed.  By then next monday I am having severe abd cramps.  I thought it was gas from my lunch at applebees, but things didnt get any better during the night and I contemplated going to the hospital.  I woke up the next morning to some spotting and started freaking out.  The hospital couldnt tell me much and I had to wait another 2 days to do a HGC level.  Hubby and I went to the midwife to get the results and things were not good.  The pregnancy ended up being a blighted ovum and I just had to wait for my body to take care of things.

I contacted Chrias afterwards and continued with my final nutrition classes.  My surgery is still scheduled for 11/17/06.

11/17/06 I arrived at the hospital at 6am with hubby and my mom.  I was calm, ready for this to be over.  Im tired of being fat. tired of eating. ready to be active.  I remember as they wheeled me into surgery i said to the dr, "what the hell am I doing here" and then next thing I know, I was dizzy. Here the nurse anaestetist gave me a shot of something to calm me down.  I remember waking up in the operating room in pain, and still in pain in recovery.  My stay at SFH went well.  No real complaints, nurses were nice.. ITs good to have family there with you though, otherwise you have to wait on the nurses. I came home Sunday afternoon and in minimal pain.  My mom went in Monday morning for her lapband surgery and hubby drove me back over so I could visit her when she got to her room.  Im really glad that we are doing this together.  Good to have someone going through it with you and that is close to home.

11/21/2006 Im down 10 lbs since 11/15/06 (my bday and the beginning of my pre-op diet)
