My story is the same as everyone elses.  I was active at one time, and then took an office job.  It slowed me down to the point where I actually gained almost 100 lbs in a year and didn't even notice it.  Scary huh?  Bad habit after bad habit my weight just kept creeping up.  Finally when I woke up and smelled the hot chocolate, it was too late.  We had changed insurance plans at work and of course our old one covered WLS but our new one did not.  So I put it off and put it off, and put it off.  For five years, I put it off.  I tried the Weight Watchers and those kind of programs.  But of course they didn't work.  And finally the day came that my grandfather had outlived his insurance policy.  Needless to say it was time to jump on it!  My mom had Lap-band done in April of 2007 and has lost about 117 lbs.  So I knew I wanted to have the surgery.  I did the seminars, listened to all the different doctors talk.  And then I sat through Dr. Stewart's seminar.  He brought toys to play with!  When he pulled out the bag that had the different instruments in it, and allowed us to play with them and showed us the stapler and all the other really neat stuff, I was hooked!  So here we are.  I went to that seminar in April of 2008 and it is October and we are getting ready for surgery.  WOW!  Time flies.  I am so excited I can hardly stand myself!
