Okay...it's now been one week. I feel better than I did last blog, except for the dang numbness in my hand....ohhh ohhh and the awful taste I keep getting in my mouth!!! I am brushing like 7 times a day...feel like I am having poop breath! Not sure if thats a "normal side effect" or not. Suture sites look good. Follow up with Dr. A tomorrow. Managed to take my synthroid today mushed up in sugar free pudding and a nibble of a MVI. Was suppose to be on clear liquids until tomorrow, but had to move to full liquids yesterday as I was too weak and couldn't get down any more sugar free jello, ices or broth! Anyone else had any of the odder side effects I am having?

5 days post op and I feel like crap. Can not take in all the clear fluids. Sucking on ice is probably saving me from dehydration. The thought of broth makes me gag, and even worse is the thought of taking any supplements and vitamins crushed up! I want to sleep in a comfortable position, but can't find one, so I am over tired and weak. And smells..OMG things smell so much more! I always had a strong sense of smell but the 1st night home my son was cooking dinner and it sent me wretching in the bathroom. I am still asking.." I did this voluntarily?" On the positive side I know this will pass, but just not soon enough for me. I have a bizzarre side effect of having part of my right hand be numb?? I thought perhaps from the IVs and it would pass but it's been days now.

My surgery date is scheduled! 6/12/07. My weight this week for med clearance was 396.6 I am filled with nervous anticipation!

Wow skip ahead a whole month! My pre-op consultations are all completed. My surgeon has submitted to my insurance carrier so now is just waiting to hear back from them. I feel like I have already been on this journey for a long time...but still can not wait to see where it takes me!

Consultation,consultation, consultation! Been keeping busy meeting the consultants. Pre-nutritional, done. Gastro, + one endoscopy, done. Support group, done. Pulmonary, done. Getting there...slow but sure!

Good Morning. I just finished getting this up and started.At this point I am in the process of having all the pre-op consultations done. So far everything is going smoothly (knock wood). I am happy to have this web site as a resource of support, to read others stories and share my own. Hopefully my journey will inspire someone out there who is still trying to decide.
