Back on the Wagon

Aug 20, 2009

A year ago today, I was down 115 lbs.  Now I sit down 65lbs.  You may ask how, but it has been a bumpy year.  Last year we got clearance to start our family.  Amazingly, we were quite lucky.  October 13th, 2008 we found out that we were in fact expecting.  Due to the fact that I had been VERY sick, I had to have a complete deflate.  Only to miscarry a few weeks later.

Knowing I wanted to try again and that I had no restrictions on doing so, I opted to not refill the band immediately.  I recieved a partial fill in January, however in February I was pregnant again.  I only had a small amount in my band, so I wasn't worried this time and did just fine.  By April though I was in the hospital to have a D&C on a partial molar pregnancy.  The baby survived until the placenta should have taken over, but since it was genetically messed up, nothing happened.

Between the 2 miscarried pregnancies, I ended up gaining 50 lbs.  Not really too bad considering my band was empty for a year, but still devastating.

I finally have my band back to my original fill volume of 6.45 cc's and already see a difference.  I do have to admit, I'll miss going to my favorite Mexican restuarant and piling up, but I do want to get some of my weight off before my hubby and I go for attempt number 3 at the end of the year (if my doc clears me in November).

It has been a rough year, but I am working hard to make all my goals come true.  Even if it means a little bit of sacrifice.
