1 month surgiversay!

Aug 11, 2014

So today is 1 month from my surgery date.  YAY!!!!

Hubby and I were out and about getting errands done and he was so hungry, it was dinner time and I thought... I can have scrambled eggs (which is allowed on my puréed).

We went to Eat N' Park, I ordered an eat smart smile, no oil or butter, knowing I was only eating a 3rd of the scrambled egg substitute and giving hubby the turkey sausage and dry 6 grain toast and fruit.

I separated my 1/4 cup sized serving of eggs, ate slowly, chewed and chewed.. No water.. Felt great!  I high fived my hubby at our first successful food outing after surgery.

An hour later.. I took a drink of water and... Foamies and that super stuffed, food stuck feeling.  For the next 4 hours, hiccups, foaming and stuck feeling.

I ate my papaya enzymes, but they took way longer than normal to help..

So... It was not a successful outing after all.  No more eggs for me.

Maybe next time... After soft foods... Just waiting for it to get easier..

My start on this journey..

Aug 06, 2014

I got RNY Gastric Bypass on 7/11/14 this year.

So my journey started in January.  I decided to get Gastric Sleeve surgery and attended the first doctor seminar.

I had been debating this for about a year, nothing was helping me lose weight on my own.

So I met the Doctor, attended nutrition classes for 5 months, pre-op testing for months..

Then my liquid diet was for 1 week prior to surgery.. Ugh... I am not a big sweets fan, so protein shakes everyday was awful.  I could not get that fake sweet taste out of my mouth!

BUT.. I started at 334 and at surgery weigh in I was at 321.

I lost 13lbs on the liquid diet.

I got a call 3 days before surgery, telling me that my Doctor was no longer able to do surgeries because he was not at the hospital anymore... My choice was to start the program over or meet the other doctor in the office and have the surgery a day later than planned.

I opted to meet the doctor, thankfully I loved her, but when we talked, she thought RNY was a better option for me than Sleeve.  It was ultimately my choice but that was her recommendation.

I had 1 day to decide.. I changed to RNY.. And had surgery on Friday 7/11/14.

I am 3.5 weeks in and am in the 200's already!  So excited I chose this journey.
