Dec 09, 2009

I just got the call for my appointment date!

Its on like popcorn, lol.

I've been scheduled for January 26th, 2010, what a way to start the year off right.
I'm so excited to know  that while everyone is in the gym working out around me, I'll actually have some real results.
For the last couple of years, every January I start a new workout plan and have little weight loss results. Granted I feel great, but I only lose like 10-15 lbs which I eventually regain. Next year will be different!!!!

This is awesome Christmas news!

I'll probably never forget this day either.....

The insurance coordinator, Ms. Tayloria called to tell me that I was approved for surgery!

I'm still beaming....this is truly incredible. I don't know why I don't believe it....its slowly seeping in.

I'm really happy though.

Guess I can wait patiently for a date :0)

Day before Turkey Day.....

And I received a call from the bariatric insurance coordinator stating that she just faxed off my paper work to BCBS....now I officially have butterflies.

Now I am seriously playing the waiting game. At first I was nervous that the doctor would kick back my information saying I needed something else, now that I know that isn't the case, I'm going to be on pins and needles until I hear something back.

This is so surreal......it feels like I've waited an eternity to be at this point....

Oct 12, 2009

Thank God for Christopher Columbus! I was so happy to have this day off!

I had a scheduled appointment to see my doctor. I was feeling very 'blah' about seeing him, only because he's never really been for or against WLS. I think he thought that I wanted a quick fix, which isn't the case.  I explained to him that I've been trying to get this surgery done since 2006!

When I was weighed in by the nurse (2 lbs lighter, lol), she asked (of course) what I was there for. I explained that I needed some new meds and I was trying to get approved for WLS, and needed the doctor to give me prescriptions for blood work....oh lawd why did I say that?  She proceeded to ask me why I wanted a gastric bypass and not just a Lap Band. First thought in my mind.....Why do you care? Then I proceeded  to tell her that I have more than 100 lbs to lose, and I'd prefer the bypass. She decided to give me her 10 cents, but as she saw my eyeballs gazing over, she stopped mid sentence and said the doctor would be in momentarily.  Good. I'm glad I still have it!  I use to do that trick to my mom :0)

Well my doctor comes in, and he seems to be really receptive to me getting the surgery. I explained he'd be receiving something from the surgeon soon, and he seemed cool with that. When I told him that I needed a Thyroid test, he said I had one done in June and everything was fine (AWESOME!!!), then I explained that I needed a physical and he said just speak with the nurse. All in all, I was in the room maybe 20 minutes, even better!

So at the nurses station, I set up an appointment for a physical for this Friday. Then I asked her if I could get a copy of my records when I came back on Friday and she was like "Sure....I don't care. I'll have them ready for you when you get here". I even asked if I'd have to pay, and she said "no".  Thats crazy! The last time I had this done, the nurse was trying to charge me $35 for my records.

All I have to say is God is in control of the wheel, so I'm going to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I can't believe how smoothe this is going.

Just wanted to add that I was on here reading up on some of the stories and looking for a therapist to do my psych eval.

After being on here about 2 hours, I get  call in the middle of my doctor search from the insurance coordinator at GWU Hospital, Tayloria. She called to inform me that the information needed to submit my paperwork for approval was:

*A Thyroid Test

*Complete Physical

*Psych Evaluation

I can't believe it. All those documents I had planned to get accomplished next week. I can't believe everything is moving so fast.  I'll take it as a good sign!

Oct 09, 2009

I had my appointment with Dr. Paul Lin.

The morning started off good, but just when you think you have a lot a time you look up and your rushing! My appointment was for 10 am, and of course I was running late. By the time I got  there it was 10:20. I was scared they weren't going to take me, when I noticed the receptionist was this girl I had went to school with. She nicely ignored the fact that I was late, and pushed me though!

First I was weighed....found out I was 327lb which kinda made me mad, but I knew in the last couple of weeks I had probably over did it, here and there; but oh well, thats what I was there for. The lady who did all my vitals was really nice, we laughed for a bit, then I got one of the medical students. He was cool. He just went over family history, and some of the information that was on my paperwork from 2006 when I initially came.

After about 20 minutes finally Dr. Lin came in. He was very relaxed and talked to me like I'd been there before ( well I had, lol),  but like he knew me. I was very comfortable. He made me feel really at ease and assured me the insurance process should go smooth.

I was back home by 1pm....off for the day, and feeling pretty good.
