Got my Date!!

May 03, 2007

I got a call today from my surgeon's office today, they wanted to know if the 15th of May would work for me...Yikes! I told the lady that was way to soon for me, so I'm scheduled for May 25th.     WHOO HOO!!!

Pre Op Testing

Mar 28, 2007

I went for my pre-op testing yesterday at my family docs. My appointment was at 2:00 and I had another appointment to meet with my son's teacher at 3:30 so I was stressing about the time frame. Anyways, the minutes are just ticking away and then finally at 2:40 I went out to the nurse's desk and was like "Hey it's a quarter to 3:00, I have to leave at 3:15 and the doc still hasn't come back...do I need to reschedule?" She told me to go back into the room and wait and she would check. Next thing I know here comes the doc sailing through the door. I was there to get a blood panel done, a physical and an EKG. She spent literally 4 minutes with me. She prodded my stomache, my throat and asked me if my eyes were still different (long story short my pupils have always been different sizes...it freaks out the new docs in my life. :P). She then left the room and then an assistant came in gave me a gown and then she left. This whole time I'm checking the clock. Then the assistant comes back in wheeling the EKG machine in and proceeds to hook me up, meanwhile in comes another assistant and while I'm flat on my back wired up like the borg she proceeds to draw blood. Anyways, when the assistant was done with the EKG she removed the little sticker thingies and the last one was on the inside of my arm...well she leaned over the EKG machine, grabbed the sticker and yanked it off my arm!!! Holy hell did that hurt! It instantly left the beginnings of a bruise and burned! By the time I got to my next appoinment the area was swollen, red and I had a huge bruise. Anyways...I hope they got everything they needed with the rushing around they had to do to get me out of there on time.

Time for my venting of some of the OH boards.....
Ever since I made the decision to go with the Lap Band instead of RNY I haven't been going to any boards but the Lap forum. Well, recently I started going to the Pa board and even popped over to the RNY forum board. Anyways, it just pisses me off to see RNYer's pushing people to gastric bypass.  People post on the boards because they're trying to figure which surgery they want to go with and they have questions about how other people made their decision or what did they experience. Next thing you know RNYer's are posting how the Lap Band is so horrible and you never loose weight with it and you can eat around it, etc, etc, etc. Give me a freakin break. I've heard the same thing about gastric bypass...it's a tool people and you haven't had that surgery...don't try to be the expert unless you experienced it yourself and certainly don't mislead people when you know your talking out your ass! Give them informed facts from your experience and let them decide...don't try to sway them.

Rant over!

Insurance Approval!!

Mar 22, 2007

After an anxious 21/2 weeks I finally got the call today from the surgeons office. I'm approved!! Whoot! I started crying after I got off the phone. I don't know why...I don't know if I didn't realize how much I was really hoping to have this or if it was just anti-climatic after the wait. All I know is I wanted to go somewhere and cry.
Anyways, they're sending me out a packet today of all of the pre-op tests I need to have done and then it's surgery time!
