Yep, came here for support 4 years ago and still here I am in the same place -
At 387 pounds in 1985, I had a vertical banded gastroplasty. The first 100 pounds came off in 9 months, and then I got a hernia. I had that repaired and a tummy tuck that did not take. All the surgery was extremely painful and it took a great deal of time to recover. No matter, I have stayed between 285 & 300 pounds all these years.. It doesn't matter what I do, even starve myself completely and the weight stays on.
I am so disappointed. Now that I am 53, I am on 13 medications and cannot stand or walk for more than 1 minute. I finally got the fortitude to look into having a revision and then the doctor shopping and all the screening has taken a year. No I am fighting with my insurance company, my primary care MD and a lacadasical bariatric surgeon's staff. Two years have gone by and my deductible will all have to be exhausted again - today I have no out of pocket and WANT this surgery NOW!!! Please help!!!
Great - it's January 11 of 2012 and I still cannot get my DS revision after a VBG! Finally changed my PCP to someone greatly supportive of the DS and my insurance is no longer Blue Cross but Wells Fargo and they still denied my request for a DS. I found Dr. Smith north of Atlanta only to find he will NOT do a revision after a VBG!! How can this be so hard?
Anyone???
