I wanted my story to really tell my surgery story, but I guess it has to start somewhere. I started thinking about gastric bypass 10 years ago. Literally, 10 years it has been on my mind. I tried everything else in that 10 year period and did lose weight, several times. And it came back. Probably a familiar story. After the birth of my 3rd son, I tried repeatedly and I just couldn't get the weight off. So I seriously began to look into the surgery. I discovered that it was covered by my insurance and so it became a little more real.
At this point I have attended the seminar for Dr. Gibbs, I have consulted with my PCP, an approval request has been sent to my insurance, and now I'm waiting. I should be able to find out something from insurance tomorrow on the status of the request. Then it will be on to scheduling the pre-surgery appointments and the surgery. It still seems a little surreal but exciting nonetheless. I am looking forward to having energy, stamina, no back pain, no swollen ankles, chasing my kids around the yard without having to rest, and just being on the outside who I know I am on the inside. One of the other ladies on her OH page said something ike, I will be thinner but I'll always be a child of God. I feel the same way. My story will continue...

I have been approved! I got word from the insurance company that my prior approval was approved. I heard from Kay - I'll pay $2000 out of pocket. Thats $1000 to Baptist and $1000.53 to Dr. Gibbs. So I'm pretty pleased with that. I talked to the bank today to get a loan for the amount and will pay it back when I get my bonus. I am so relieved. Now, I'm waiting to hear from Carrie on a date. I'm hoping for May but will be satisfied with June. That's where my story is for now.
