Pre-Op: Managing My Weekends

Hi New Friends!

First time I'm joining a support group of any kind online. So, good job with that, I say to myself.

Second, it's Saturday. Great week. Again, brought nutritious breakfasts and lunches to work. Avoided the vending machine. After not drinking any soda in two weeks, I drank about a 6 oz cup of Pepsi, or Coke...whatever, at a co-worker's going away pizza party. It didn't taste the same though. I didn't have any more after that. I ate fruits, I visited the Farmer's Market near my job in the South Bronx. Best of all, I "humbly" accepted the accolades of all my co-workers who exclaimed, "I can see it now! You're losing!" I never know how to reply to that. . Riiiight...tell me anything.

I did pretty well last weekend. I ate lightly, frequently and good. I prepared fresh ingredients. I got the kids involved in my madness, and we enjoyed ourselves. I found I wasn't so interesed in second helpings, I drank water instead. And you know what, when I returned to work on Monday, I found I lost a pound! Losing a pound over the weekend you say? . I did! My nutritionist was thrilled, of course I was, and it encouraged me to slap the heck outta Monday's diet.

Right now, I'm at my husband's aunt's house with our three zebras: Elijah, Micah & Olivia. I wasn't prepared for this at all. Her fridge looks like how mine used to look--a whole shelf just for sodas alone! Last night, coming up the steps (5-floor walk up people! That's Manhattan for ya) I smelled the fried chicken from the train station! You know a sista can put away some good fried chicken. But, I think I did well, 4 pieces (you know, the "wing dings", I ate 4 "flat" pieces) with over-boiled corn. I hadn't planned for eating at family's house, so I did the best I could.

This morning, since I've become accustomed to a cup of high fiber, whole grain cereal with 1/2 cup of milk, that's what I ate. I feel good about that choice. So far, I'm on track for having a great food day. I'm finding that I usually make a plan for my meals just an hour or two before I actually eat. One of my goals is to move into a longer term relationship where I can be comfortable in knowing what I'll be eating on, say, Tuesday June 2nd, 2011!

So ends my weekend discussion about food, and just where I'm going with it. I hope to update often. First things first, figuring out how to take a pic of myself that is only 100x100. Having that silhouette with a question mark as my current pic bothers the heck outta me.
