Hello Everyone,

I have been thinking about surgery for over a year and have just recently started the process to have Gastro-bypass. I am excited, but am ready for the hard work that lies ahead.

I have always had problems with my weight fluctuating up and down. 2 years ago, I stopped smoking and as a result, I gained an additional 82 pounds, taking my weigh up to 230. That may not sound like a lot to most people, but add in the fact I am only 4'10 with a BMI of 48, I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and fluid residing on my knee making it difficult to walk because of weigh. I was told my idea weigh is 110. This is not taking into consideration that I am an African-American with big butt.  LOL.
I would love to get down to 140, my weight before kids. It was a good size for me and I was healthy.   Well, the way things look, with support groups, phys. Eval, and nutrition visit, I don’t see having the surgery before January 2010.   The waiting to me is a help factor, from all the comments and replies I’ve read, most people are commit to making the surgery a success. That added time, I believe helped.   Well enough sharing for One Day.
