Surgery 060509

May 25, 2009

Wow I have been on this road for over 2 years. I didn't realize I had to keep pressing the nurse I was working with to get appointments. thought she would tell me when they would be. gads I know now that what you get is up to you. like life right?
I am getting down to the basics here. I am staring the 10 day hi protein liquid diet till my surgery on May 26, so that is tomorrow. hope I do ok.

Am older at 68. am 268# at 5'6", and currently due to 7 hip replacement procedures I walk with a heavy walker. keeps my balance and is easier than the crutches I used for 14 years.

Think my surgeon was skeptical, but I assured him that I wanted this and would work at exercise everyday. have I done that not really? but llllllll it will get easier when weight goes down. but I know I will need to exercise to make the weight go down.

I have been reading posts on here of marvelous weigh lossesbeen reading the little booklet gastric bypass  patient handbook. that has a lot of interesting instructions in it. I figure just follow the guide and it will all work.

I am in Twin Cities of MN so will have surgery here.  My youngest son, at 42, lives close by and drives me. I can drive but due to low low income no longer have a car.  I do drive a 3 wheeled scooter instead of a wheelchair.

well. best go and get cleaned up for the day.   It is scary thinking of the surgery. I will have RNY with gall bladder removal as I do have gallstones. per ultrasound done last month. they say it will add only 15 monutes to my laproscopic surgery.
