I hate  doing these things, but here goes. First off, I will start by stating I think I have tried every diet known to man-kind – diets suck!

My name is Cristina, I work full time as an energy trader. For those of you who have no clue what that is, join the club, I didn’t either until I fell into the job. But, to put it simply, I buy, sell, and trade energy. Similar to the stock market, but with only energy and we work 24/7 every day of the year. So, I work a rotating 12 hour shift. It sounds worse than it actually is. I end up working only fourteen 12 hour shifts in a 5 week time period and I get a lot more time off than most people do working a 40 hour work week. I never had weight problems until I started having children. I have seven boys (one step-son) and two grandsons – no girls. I am very happily married to a wonderful man. My husband has never made mention of my weight until I started looking into weight loss options.  Only then did he tell me that he loves me no matter what I weigh or look like, but he is worried about my health. My weight was a thorn in my ego, but nothing that I dwelled on or let bother me. I looked in the mirror and didn’t see a fat woman - I just seen me. However, early this year, I started having medical problems and some were related to my weight (pre-diabetic symptoms). But, I think my turning point was when I had a lumpectomy on one of my breasts, a hysterectomy, gall bladder surgery and bladder surgery all within a six week time period early this summer. It was my wake-up call that led me to this journey! A friend of mine had weight loss surgery a few years ago. At that time, I thought surgery was such a drastic measure and wasn’t something I was willing to do at the time. Man, I wish I would have done it back then – my insurance would have paid for it. Today is a different story. I have come to realize that some of us on this earth need a little extra help when it comes to weight loss – similar to a diabetic depending on insulin. Anyway, today I am self-paying for my surgery. I have decided to have my surgery in Mexico for a few reasons. 1.      I want to have this surgery now and I don’t want to wait. 2.      I am not interested in classes or support groups etc... I can get all the information and support I need from family, friends and online resources. 3.      I wanted to schedule the surgery on my terms and not on the doctor’s schedule – I have a very demanding work schedule. 4.      And, of course there is the cost factor. 5.      Oh and don’t forget, I get to travel to a foreign country to wear a hospital gown with my butt hanging out. 6.      And last but not least, it gives me some time to brush-up on my rusty Spanish.
