2 Months and Going...

Sep 09, 2009

Interesting, life is fairly normal again, just do what I do...  That is normal for 5 years ago, the last time I weighed this much, and I hope to be normal for 10 years ago soon, that is about 10 pounds away...

Except I am constantly in the closet looking for old clothes that fit again,

I have accepted my new life, my new eating limitations and I feel great...

Life is great

Aug 03, 2009

Ok, I went out for a bike ride and held heart rate 140 (average) for 43 minutes, I haven't been able to do that for 5 years.  This feels great.  The last time I was my current weight was about 4 years ago, this feels so great.

I am digging into the closet and bring out clothes I thought I would never wear again.  I haven't started ditching the big stuff but I will soon.

I am down 30 pounds in 4 weeks, I am amazed, 30lbs in 30 days is amazing.  Thanks Dr. Caucucci, you did an amazing job.

3 Days and I will be in Recovery

Jul 04, 2009

3 Days from now and I will be out of surgery, hopefully walking the halls.

I have a strange sense of calm, I am not nervous today, I am looking forward to it.

I have always had trouble with food, but over the years I had ways to deal with it.  One by one my coping mechanisims failed and then my body started failing me.  I managed to keep my weight down while I spent 20 years in the military but once I retired I balooned up fast and never got back down.    I have a choice, RNY or seriously declining health.

I can hardly wait until Tuesday, thanks to all for supporting me in this journey.

4 Days, Doing Great

Jul 03, 2009

I have some relatives in town so it is distracting me from the fact that I have surgery in 4 Days, tomorrow is the 4th of July and then everyone will be on their way.

It seemed like tuesday would never come, now it is 4 days away, I can't believe it.

Change of Doctor and Hospital

May 18, 2009

I changed programs, and I am really glad I did.  The new program is closer to my house and I am much more impressed with the staff.  I was a little worried about the other staff, they were a small outfit and didn't seem to have a lot of resources.  I am with St. Vincents in Carmel now and I love it.

Moving Past the First Step

May 04, 2009

I have had several appointments now and I am waiting for my Insurance approval.  Thankfully I don't have to do 6 months of supervised diet like some programs, that would be hard and I feel for those that have to go through that.  This seems pretty normal so far, I am sure once I am approved and have surgery scheduled things will change.
