St. Alexius Medical Center

"Overall, I felt the staff was very caring and attentive. However, the technicians do not receive any special instructions regarding bariatric patients, and sometimes offered me things like carbonated beverages and straws, which I could not have. The nurses, however, were well educated and attentive to my needs. The rooms seem small and the air conditioner in my room didn't work very well, but they sent someone to fix it. It was very noisy with nurses, technicians, doctors, cleaning staff, and visitors coming in and out all day and night, but I guess that's to be expected in any hospital. "

Paul J. Guske

"I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Guske and the Kane Center. I had never had surgery before, and Dr. Guske patiently explained the entire process and answered my long list of questions. I never felt rushed or that my questions were silly or unimportant. I had absolutely no complications from the surgery and found my recovery to be much easier than I expected. I know that everyone's experience is unique, but having a highly skilled surgeon is the most important factor in having a successful procedure, and I would choose Dr. Guske again in a heartbeat. The Kane Center requires very thorough pre-operative testing and if you are also having to participate in a medically supervised diet to fulfill insurance approval requirements, it may seem to take a while to finally have your surgery scheduled. However, your patience and preparations will pay off in the end. Aftercare is also stressed, with the Kane Center requiring regular follow-up visits with lab work."
