Had surgery with Dr. Joya on March 17, 2006. Everything went great. The only time that I got nervous was when they strapped me down to the table while I was still awake. Stayed in the hospital in Puerto Vallarta that night. Went to the resort around 3 the next day. It was a great place to recover. Left the next day for Denver. Was grateful that I requested a wheelchair in Denver. The walk through customs is approximately a mile and I never would have made it.
I am currently 4 weeks out and healing well. I am still trying to determine whether I need to schedule a fill or not. I am filling up very fast but most foods go down fairly easy. I have lost 22 lbs so far (none the last two weeks). Hopefully I started back on the down-slide again soon!
05/17/2006 - Today is my 2 month anniversary. I am very happy with my band so far. To this date I am down 32 pounds. I have had one fill on April 24th and am schedule for another fill on Monday. I had really good restriction after the first fill and the pounds really came off. I hope to get back to the really good restriction.
08/17/2006 - Today is my 5 month anniversary. Everything is going great. I am now down 51 pounds. I have gone from a BMI of 37.7 on surgery day, to 28.8. No longer obese... just overweight. My last fill was at the beginning of July. I was in Puerto Vallarta and had a fill done under fluro. It was very cool to watch. This was my 3rd fill. One day after my 2nd fill, my husband was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. The band helped me keep things under control and did not allow me to eat my way to feeling better. I still occasionally try to eat things that I shouldnt and my band tells me to back off and not do it again. I am very happy with my progress. My friend told me last night that my "double-chin" is gone and my husband now calls me "skinny minnie". I am so glad that I did this for myself!
09/17/2006 - OK... today is my 6 month. Actually time has just flown by. Yesterday I hit my big goal. I had wanted to make 60 lbs down by six months.. and I finally did it! My fill that I received in July all of a sudden re-tightened on its own a couple of weeks ago. I have had really good restriction. Last night my husband told me the size 12 jeans I just bought are looking baggy so I guess I get to go shopping!
