First weigh in after 1 week

Jul 15, 2011

I was so excited this morning to get on the scales, not my normal reaction!   I'd had a 'band rescue review' with Dr Ashton last weekend and although I've had my band for years my previous surgeon 'abandoned' me and i've been able to eat whatever I liked since, consequently I'd put on weight. A LOT of weight.  I had gotten so desperate to lose my bulk that the decision was made to get something done, the first thing having my band checked by a new surgeon and refilled if possible.  Dr A was wonderful, I felt completely at ease with him and although he had a struggle to find the port (its buried deeply) he declared it ok and leak free.  He drained whatever there was in there, it has been so long ago since it had been filled that I couldn't remember, and refilled it with 2.5mls.  I've had to follow a regime of 3 days fluids, 3 days pureed food and now onto normal eating.  following this regime (and I really didn't find it difficult suprisingly) has resulted in me losing 10lbs in the first week.  I am so pleased, its a great way to kick start my weight loss journey.

I have also decided that because one of my problems is not really knowing what food to prepare and spending too long in the kitchen to think about it usually ended up with me snacking on things I shouldn't have, I am following the Weight to Go Diet.  I've paid for a months supply to try it out, basically it is all your meals sent to you in a box.  You have 3 protein shakes a day, 1 soup, 1 meal and 2 portions of fruit/veg aswell, for the days when you feel like something extra there is a snack bar too.  The meals are not what I would associate with a diet but normal, tasty good.  For example some of the meals are: chilli con carne, mushroom stroganoff, rich beef stew, pasta bolognese, cumbrian meatballs and some of the soups are: mushroom, sweet parsnip, butternut squash, three bean & chorizo, four different flavours of shake: chocolate, strawberry, banana and vanilla, the snack bars are choc & peanut and lemon crunch.  For the first time in years I really feel I can do this and my husband is being so supportive, I don't think I could do it without him being here for me.  (We only met after I had a repair to my lap band in 2002).  THE FUTURE IS FINALLY LOOKING GOOD!
