I have been battling obesity for as long as i can remember. I recall my mother taking me to a medical doctor in the '60's to get diet pills when I was about 12 years old. I also remember her taking me to weight watchers meetings. I remember dreading the weigh ins....so humiliating for a teenager. AFter moving away from homne, I continued a life of diet pills, yo-yo dieting and even a long period of not even trying anymore because it seemed so hopeless. Then several years ago I began the dieting roller coster again. Adkins, prism, weight down, curves, one day at a time, the 12 step program for compulsive overeaters, south beach, slim fast, the zone, cabbage soup diet, best life diet, low carb diets, low fat diets, the maker's diet, no flour - no sugar diet, and protein power. I have prayed and trusted god. I have tried EVERYTHING.
Then in 2002 I decided to get RNY. I began all the steps required only to find out that our insurance quit covering the surgery unbeknownst to me so figured this was God's way of telling me that I wasn't supposed to get the surgery.
5 more years of yo-yo dieting....watching as my husband and I drew further and further apart because ofmy weight (well and other things - too many to talk about here). Then I decided to again pursue the weight loss path after we got a new insurance company that covered the surgery. I had my surgery on 3/19/08. I thank God for this blessing.
I am so glad that my lifelong battle is over. I hope and pray that I will be a success story. I believe I will!
