I started my WLS journey in 2001...this site was a BIG help for me pre-op and post op.  My surgery was performed at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY on 5/30/02.  My initial starting weight was just shy of 300 pounds.  My lowest weight after surgery was 126 pounds (which was too thin...I was having lots of problems with multiple repeating strictures and  lost too much weight).  My final stabilized weight was 140-145.  Two years after surgery I found out that I was pregnant!! Something that doctors told me would NEVER happen my entire life!  Well, weight loss changed that, changed my hormone levels...and BAMMM I was pregnant just like that (not planned...but certainly welcomed, especially when you were told for 15 years that you would never have kids!).  I gained a LOT of weight with pregnancy....was up to 201 when I gave birth.  6 weeks later I was back down to 155 pounds...only about 10-12 pounds from my starting weight....and I started suffering with post pardum depression.  They placed me on meds for that...which made me GAIN 35 pounds in 3 months!!! i told my doctors.....NO WAY>>>.>get me off these meds now!  You are treating me for post pardum depression with meds that are making me gain weight....by me gaining weight you are causing me to experience another form of depression....I didnt go through WLS to gain weight on meds now!!  Needless to say, I stopped the meds (after I had gained 40-something pounds on them total)...I lost about 10 of those pounds since...and still cant get the remaining 30-35 off!  So it's very easy to gain weight back if you are NOT careful.  I still struggle to this day.  Luckily, I have not gained anymore...I am stable at this weight...but, I really want to drop the excess off. I am trying....

With that all said....despite the weight gain, despite ALL of my plastic surgery being ruined by pregnancy.....I still support WLS 100%.  I wouldnt change a thing....except maybe NOT taking those post pardum depression meds!!
