"My how times have changed. My surgeon, my hero let me down. I thought he lost his license, but he has started practicing again. I would love to hear from others who suffered bad experiences with Dr. McCarty. We have got to stop him! He did not bypass me enough and I quit losing weight after a year. He would never admit it, but I never had the sense of a small pouch and being able to eat only a few bites. Finally, he said he would put a band over the pouch. Sounded like a good idea. Only problem, he put it too low and he could never get into in the port. Wanted me to go to the surgery center where the insurance was charged $5,000 for a fill! After the surgery, he never talked to me or my husband. The hospital did not know what to do with me. I had to call his associate to get a doctor to release me from the hospital. He didn't even leave orders for pain meds. I lived in Austin; I couldn't stick around Dallas to try to catch him in his office. I tried to call, but the great doctor does NOT talk to patients on the phone. I found a doctor in Austin who tried to move the port up higher. He never could get enough fluid in it to do any good. And who taught him? You guessed it! The great Dr. McCarty. I feel so let down and now I find that Dr. McCarty is practicing again in Dallas in a new location. He would not speak to me on the phone, his office manager would not speak to me. I get an email telling me that if I was not happy to call his lawyer! All I wanted to do was talk to somebody in the office. Who refers people who attempt to call their doctor to contact a lawyer??? I am not considered his patient anymore. He has no file on me. Of course he does not have a file. He was told to leave Baylor after problems with alcohol. I thought he lost his license, but after doing some research he received a "slap on the hand", a small fine and now he gets to "practice" again. Some lady got $5,000 and when I read her complaint, he could have been written by me. If you have had similar problems, please, email me at [email protected]. There could be help in numbers. Please think twice before you consider you letting this doctor help you. He WAS great, but something snapped and he changed. It is documented on the Texas Physician website. Please contact me. "My first impression was through e-mail. I was excited that he answered me within a few hours. First meeting in office was terrific. This is a doctor who truly cares for his patients and is a Christian! He is also oncological surgeon who is familiar with the cancer that I have had since March 1, 1995. His office coordinator, Chris Arrowsmith, is very helpful. He either talks to me on the phone or is very helpful in e-mail. There is a Baylor support group that involves the doctors and patients from Baylor. On a scale of 1-10, I would give Dr. McCarty an 11, if I could!!! He saved my life. He is surgically competent and has a wonderful bedside manner. I have never met anyone who doesn't think he's the best. Only negative comment: not very comfortable with the lady who schedules the surgeries."
