Most of my life, I was thin. I ate anything I wanted. I love dairy, "everything is better with cheddar" was my motto! Another was never say no to ice cream or cheesecake! I wanted to live life, and I did! I worked at a major international airline for 28 years. I travelled all over the world and sampled all the delicacies in my travels. When in Rome mentality, and it all caught up to me one day.

I remember looking at a photo of a trip to Bangkok. Who is that woman? It certainly wasn't me...but it was. That was when I started being the photographer instead of the subject. I was always the one behind the lens, and rarely in front. I have missed out on many years of family photos with my husband and son. There are many photos of them, but I am not a part of any of the photos.

During the lowest point in my life, a miracle happened. I was working as an airline manager which was 24/7. In my "spare" time, my husband and I were also starting our own business, and let me tell you...it was not a small business. It was millions of dollars in and out and all the stress to go with it. Before our big event, I went for a mani/pedi (a luxury I would treat myself to on very rare occasions). It was at this random encounter that I met my angel. As we chatted, she slowly showed me pictures of herself 8 months prior. She had VSG surgery, and by the end of our time, she had me promising her to make an appointment with her doctor, Dr Joshua Long.

It was only weeks later, that I made the call. It has changed my life forever. I have found myself again, though I didn't even know I was lost. The surgery is only a tool. You must make many lifestyle changes, too. My biggest goal is to be that angel for others. To help inspire and support. I strongly believe that is my purpose in life.
