Hello everyone! I am now 9 days out. Just thought I would give you guys an update. My surgery went very well and I am feeling good, everyone says that my youth is on my side lol. Im not in pain but my binder is annoying. But I really cant complain. Im healing up well and am finally able to sleep on my side! Which I am very happy for! AND!!!! today was my first appointment with Dr. M after my surgery, turns out I lost 51 pounds!!!!! O my gosh, I almost started crying! I have never lost this much weight, no matter how HARD I dieted!!! I now weight 484 pounds!!! Im on my way!!! And even if all I did loose was water weight, thats a lot of water! lol and it feels GOOD to have it gone!


eta: I actually lost 51 and not 46 :D 

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know that we made it here to Brazil yesterday. I gave a brief update as a reply to my other thread. But for those of you who didn't see it I just wanted to let everyone know.

I met with Dr. M today, he is sooo kind! Everyone has been really helpful and so now we are just settling into our hotel room.
 
There are a lot of fellow Americans here so Ive been meeting a bunch of Dr. M's other patients some new and some old. I have all my testing already done so everything is ready and my health (besides being my size) is good and Dr. M has no worries for the surgery, he said I am young strong and in good health so everything should go smooth.

But the anesthesiologist might recommend me staying a bit longer at the hospital and possibly staying in the ICU just to make sure. I am still not scared or nervous, a little excited but mostly just ready.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone that is here in Brazil :) Dr. M told me that everyone in the hospital and hotel are asking about me lol. So for those of you that are here, PM me and maybe we can all meet up!

Hello everyone,
So we got our visa's! In hand yesterday! O man I am so glad that they got shipped so fast! Sometimes things shipped to Alaska take a while but they came so fast.

I just wanted to let you guys know that now everything is official! No more worrying about getting approved lol. I'm still not even nervous about surgery but just a bit excited to finally being able to get everything over with. I am looking forward to meeting everyone that will be in Brazil when I am!!

Hello everyone! 
I just wanted to give you guys an update on me. So as most of you know, I had to change my surgery date from May 30th to July 11the due to visa issues.

And ever since we have been waiting to get our visa's and I am glad to announce that after many denials due to needing different forums of permission from my father who lives in Kentucky, my visa was finally approved! 

We should be getting them on the mail either tomorrow morning or afternoon. I cant even explain how stressful its been knowing that we are leaving so soon but don't even physically have our visa's in hand and not even knowing if they are going to deny me again.

But I am glad that everything is set now. O so glad. As far as any feelings toward surgery I can honestly say that I am not even scared/nervous, is that weird? My mom thinks it is, haha shes more scared then I am.

I guess it just hasn't hit me yet. But I'm sure when I'm there things will sink in. My angels are:

As you can see on my tickers, I have 4 days till I leave and then 9 days till surgery. Pretty much the only thing I'm a little nervous about is all the airports I have to go to. I'm not necessarily scared of flying but I'm worried weather or not I will get around fast enough at the airports. But I'm sure everything will be ok.

I just want to say thank you soooo much to everyone! for your support and all this information you guys have given me! I will never forget the day I was rejected by the RNY doctor and told to loose 100 pounds before I came to him, when he never even met me in person or talked to me, his assistant called (I told them that if I could loose 100 pounds by myself and keep it off then I wouldn't need wls in the first place!) I was so down and hopeless when I decide to come back to obesityhelp and post about it, looking for advice. And that's when you lovely DS'er invited me to check out the DS board! And now I am SO Glad that I was denied the RNY!!!!

So thank you!! Everyone!!! And I'm sure I will be back in no time.

Hello everyone, just wanted to let everyone know that we resubmitted our visa application about 3 days ago. And so now we are just waiting. But of course it is the weekend and so the Brazilian Embassy is closed so we will have to wait till all next week. I really hope I don't get denied again. -sigh- prays, swinging farm animals all welcome.

Hello everyone, I am kinda bummed right now, but I will not give up hope! No way no how. I was once again DENIED by the Brazilian embassy for a visa. This is like the 3rd time. They denied me again because the need a signed notarized letter from my father himself, instead of his power of attorney AND a photo copy of his ID. My father has MS and cannot write and I have told them that but they still request that he sign the paperwork, so my aunt is getting that done. Its just going to be scribbles because my dad can barely grasp a pen. We have exactly 15 business days to get this approved, so there is still time but its just so hard to keep getting denied. We've already spent about $10,000 on the tickets alone, because we had to change our dates plus a extra seat for me and plus tickets from Alaska to Brazil are expensive in the first place.  I'm not to worried but a little disappointed. But I will just try try again until we get this. Thanks for reading this kinda sad news, prays and swinging animals are appreciated .

Hello everyone, I know that I haven't updated in a while. Well not to much is new, except my new date is July 11th and right now we are waiting to get our Visa's back. The other day I got an e-mail from the Visa company that we are using and they told me that my request for a visa had been denied because they wanted to know that my dad was knowingly giving me permission to leave to Brazil, so we had to fax in a copy of my birth certificate and what not.  So the visa company re submitted our paperwork including everything new. So now we are just waiting, they may need a copy of my fathers military ID but the only way we could get that is if my father's sister in Kentucky gets a copy and fax's it to them. I didn't see that as a problem so I called up my dads sister (who is his care taker) and told her what I needed but shes not going to fax it. She says she doesn't know if she wants to do this......so that is not helpful at all. Hopefully I don't need his ID! Ugh. Well besides that everything is going good. We changed our flights and everything. Thanks for reading.

Hello. I wanted to let everyone know that due to not being able to get Visa's on time Dr. M will have to give me a new surgery date, it will be sometime in the begining of June. I will let you guys know when it is when I find out.

ETA: My new date is July 11th.

Hello everyone. At this point I am freaking out. And not because of surgery. BUT because it took so long to get my mom and her friends passport pictures and birth certificates back. AND we still DO NOT have visa's! And there is ONLY 7 days left until we have to leave....and 6 days to get our visa's. AND heres another twist, I need notarized permission from my dad! Whats bad about that is that he LIVES in Lexington, KY AND he has MS and cannot walk or WRITE or do anything for himself....So now my aunt and my dad are struggling to get me that permission and its going to take a day and a half at the least to get the permission from KY here to AK. I just needed to let you guys know......Thanks

Hello everyone, today is my birthday! And also 20 more days until I leave! Exciting. haha it hasn't really hit me yet.....but I'm sure it will . I'm doing well, but I did get an update from Dr. M in Brazil. He said that because of my abdomen shape and my BMI I might need to spend 2 days in the ICU. I'm OK with that. Well I just wanted to give a little update.
