3rd Band Adjustment

Nov 06, 2008

Went for third band adjustment - got 1/2 cc and he seems to think we are approaching that "sweet spot".  I don't know about that.  I don't know whether I don't really have the restriction or that I know what my limits are (and I HOPE I know what they are), but I'm just not eating that much.  I haven't had the indigestion, burping, etc., that everyone says you feel when you "overdo".  That suits me fine.  I am down right at 50 pounds from when I first decided I HAD to do something and down and 34 down from what I weighed the day I had my surgery.  I cleaned out my closet today and took all my good big clothes to a resale store in our small town.  I don't want to be able to wear them again and maybe someone else can get some use out of them.  I can use my credits to buy more clothes.  Well, guess I better get back to cleaning out that closet.  I am taking one room at a time and doing a DEEP CLEAN that this house so badly needs.

Second Band Adjustment Done!

Oct 03, 2008

Went for my second band adjustment on the first and I am now BELOW 215 pounds and have lost 9 inches.  I can't believe it!  I am going to start at Curves next week and I am really looking forward to it.  I am even excited about exercising!!!  I need a few pieces of clothes that I can wear without having to hold on to the waist band to keep them up.  There is a consignment shop here in our small town and I am going to take some of my extra bigger clothes up there and get some from there I can be comfortable in.  I don't want to go out and buy all new clothes now and then have to buy more later - WOW - that sounds like so much fun.  Oh well, got to get back to housecleaning.  I even have more energy for that!

Update

Sep 17, 2008

It's been a while since I posted to OH - been using the www.realizemysuccess.com page that my doctor directed me to so they can watch their patients also.  I'm doing fine.  I am now 39 pounds down (from the middle of June when I started working on my weight on my own after my sister and I returned from a cruise) and 24 pounds down from the date of surgery.  BUT, the big thing is that I have lost 8 total inches which puts me in pants 2 to 3 sizes down from what I was before.  I haven't been in this size 18 since I can remember!!  I have SO MUCH more energy now.  I spent all yesterday morning in the yard cutting back poenies, etc.  Normally I would have had to take several breaks but still even had energy when I finished and came in.  Will try to be more diligent in posting here from now on--On to the Loser's Bench!!!

Confession is Good for the Soul - Aug. 13, 2008

Aug 13, 2008

Well, they say confession is good for the soul, so here goes!  I felt like I was starving on Monday (week out from surgery) and had a few other questions so call doctor's office.  Shannon and I talked about my questions and when I mentioned I was starving she said I could go on to the Soft Pureed Stage.  I don't see Dr. Fuller until September 3 so that would give me lots of time to get use to the food prior to my first fill.  Okay, I got excited.  That night at supper I had tuna salad, melon and a whole wheat cracker.  For breakfast yesterday I had soggy cheerios, applesauce and a cracer and at lunch I had cottage cheese, melon and whole wheat cracker.  My husband and I had to put one of our cars in the shop for a couple of days and when I was driving to meet him at the shop I had a "Revelation"  My measured amounts were not right.  I had used 1-2 OUNCES rather than 1-2 TEASPOONS.  Thank heavens I had not had a fill yet.  I probably would have really hurt myself before I realized HOW I had done it.  Last night for supper I had ham salad applesauce and a whole wheat cracker - in the correct amounts!!!  DUH!!  BUT, I still lose weight.  This morning I weighed and I am down 12 pounds from the day of surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm Home!

Aug 07, 2008

Got home late yesterday afternoon - walking SLOWLY - terribly sore but, HEY, what did I expect.  Was in the hospital one day longer because I had a reaction to the morphine used as the pain killer post surgery.  My blood pressure plummeted like a ROCK! and I was so dizzy I could hardly move my head!  I started my Full Liquid Diet this morning that is MUCH like the pre-op diet but LESS PORTIONS.  It's raining here today (Praise the Lord) so my walking was done on my treadmill.  I'm not doing the 40 minutes all at once - breaking it into 4 ten minute sessions.

D-DAY August 4, 2008

Aug 03, 2008

Well, I'm up, showered, dressed and packed.  Ready to go now.  Apprehensive but anxious to get it done and over with also.  Looking forward to a new lifestyle and look on down the road. I'll check back in when I get home.

July 28, 2008 - ONE WEEK FROM TODAY

Jul 28, 2008

Well, one week from today I have my LB surgery.  Excited, Nervous, Anxious, and a lot of other words describe my emotions right now.  I am waiting on a call from Shannon with my other appointments - I will see Dr. Fuller on this Friday afternoon, see the Dietitian, do pre-admit tests, etc.  I am also waiting to hear from Kay regarding the finances.  I have both FEP B/C B/S and Tricare standard and having both usually takes care of all expenses.  If anyone has any tips, ideas, etc., to get through this pre-op all liquid diet, please let me know.  More to come later in the week.
