"I think Dr. Rehnke is great. He listened to me, and let me ask as many questions as I wanted, then asked again if there was anything else I could think of.
He has monthly support group meetings, which he encourages everyone to attend to.
I will say that he is different from many surgeons in that his patients eat regular food before being discharged from the hospital. He wants his patients to experience the "negatives" early on (getting sick from eating that extra bite, or eating the wrong thing) in order to start training the brain that food is for sustenance, not pleasure.
Another thing, he wants his patients doing for themselves as soon as they go home from the hospital, (getting up to get water, go to the bathroom, prepare food,cleaning up after yourself, etc.)so that you are building your strength up and not just laying in bed all the time.
