Like so many who consider bariatric surgery I have been overweight my entire life. My mother loves to tell the story of how as a newborn I scarfed down the two ounce bottle they gave me and screamed for more. I went on my first official diet at age nine and lost nine pounds only to have the friendly ladies at Weight Watchers recalibrate the scales and have it negate all my hard work.

As of writing this on 7/9/2011 I am 44 years old and I have had it with being overweight and on a diet. I have been researching WLS for the past five years after my doctor suggested it. When I first thought about surgery, I was on the fence and not wanting to commit to the idea. However in the last two years my weight crept up to the dreaded 400 number and my knees have started to give out. I knew if I want to have a quality life with my hysband and son something had to change.

Though this whole journey I have felt the hand of God guiding me and he led me to Dr Ranjan Sudan. So far I have had my first consultation with him and am waiting for my pre-op testing to come back so I can get an appointment.
