Via Christi St Francis

"While in the hospital I had great care. They have special nurses that are there and work with just the gastric bypass patients. Some of them have even had the surgery also. They now what you need before you ask for it sometimes. However when I went back a few days later to the ER. That staff hadd no clue what to do with me. I had to sit in there for hours waiting for them to get ahold of my surgeon. He had to come from home to see me himself. I think since more people are having this surgery, it should be a requirement for the health care providers to know about this surgery and what to do when someone comes in that has had it done. "

"My surgeon was awesome! He has a wonderful bedside manner. Very sweet! His voice is so calming. He also did my gallbladder surgery a few weeks ago. There is not way to every repay him for the job he did on me. My scars are very small and light. You hardly notice them at all. His office staff is great also. They are there and willing to anwser any questions you have about anything. What I liked least about him was his schedule. The wait time in his office is sometimes very lengthy. But Dr. Porter spends as much time needed with you. He doesn't rush his appointment out the door. When I had my first visit with him I felt like he was trying to talk me out of the surgery by telling me everything that could go wrong during the surgery. Telling me that I may even die. He wanted to really make sure this is what I wanted to do. Even the morning of surgery he asked me again before I went under if I was sure this is what I really wanted. I will rate Dr. Porter an 11 out of 10. He is amazing. Has hands from god. Surgical Competence or Bedside manner? Both were great. A++++ Anyone having this surgery would be lucky to have Lewis porter as there surgeon. "
