First Day Home
Feb 11, 2009
Well I didn't know what to expect, but my hospital stay (recovery from surgery) was a wonderful. I was really quite afraid of how much pain I was going to be in. Since everyone is different (we are all snowflakes, ha ha ha) I had no real idea of how my body would react to the surgery.I am happy to say I was actually the talk of the recovery room! The hospital staff were all very impressed at how alert and mobile I was. I was up and able to walk a few hours after surgery. The pain was very minimal, and the staff was more than glad to provide some nice pain and anti-nausea meds. For me I was a bit nauseous coming right out of surgery, and that was about it.
The following morning at the hospital I noticed that my largest incision appeared to have grown a little/medium size lump. The PA came in and looked at it, and told me it was just the port and a bit swollen. The area wasn't hard and their was no bruising. So even though to me it looked like I had some little alien growing and protruding out the side of the stomach, apparently this is normal. I now have a new definition of normal! :)
I made sure to take all my "before" photos the day before going in for my surgery. I even took some photos today of my stomach with the incisions. They had to do some "manscaping" and shave my stomach. So be forward guys, if you've got a furry stomach, you will be getting a shave!
