100 day post op visit

Jul 29, 2014

Today was my 100 days post-op visit. Feeling good! I continue my weight loss at a very consistent rate. The first month 18+ lbs second and 3rd month both 9+ lbs. Over all I am down 45.5 lbs. (40.5 since surgery) . So far it has not been particularly difficult, ( the 1st 3 weeks of protein shakes a evil but distant memory! ) mostly because I don't have very much hunger and I am quickly full on small amounts. I know I am not meeting my protein goals and I just cannot make myself take any sort of chewable vitamin. I sometimes make some poor food choices...but because I am not able to eat very much do to the size of my stomach, I continue to lose weight. I know I will not continue my weight loss eventually unless I work on some these areas. I also have not done a consistent exercise program...but I have been very active. I have been telling myself I will begin running again when I am under 200 lbs...and that is now just 3.5 lbs away. I can't remember the last time I weighed under 200 lbs, but I believe it was 1999. Good things: carbonation does not cause much of a problem unless I drink it too fast....so I can enjoy my addiction to diet Pepsi. And for some reason... I'm not liking the taste of wine... Which really is a good thing since it is empty calories! I have been loving fitting back into a closet full of smaller clothes that I had out grown. This was the best decision. I am so glad I had my VSG !

Three weeks post op...solid food at last!

May 08, 2014

Today was an awesome day as I was officially advanced to soft food. Not a day to soon...the protein shakes we're killing me! I met with the dietician and the surgeon today and per their calculations I'm down 19 lbs from surgery and "on track" My first solid food choice was a small amount of chicken..it went down great and I was quickly full. I've been walking 30 minutes a day with my neighbors...who won't let me decline. I'm always glad I went. Today we even walked in the in the Rain! I'm feeling pumped and motivated!

One week post op

Apr 22, 2014

So far...so good! My surgery went smoothly and without complications. Apparently I was quite chatty in recovery and even more funny on post op dilaudid! My husband Scott went back to work today...so I'm on my own. I'm off all pain meds...so I'm even gonna drive today and pick the kids from school. It looks like I'm already down about 10 lbs on my unreliable scale...but it could be more :) I am amazed that I essentially have no hunger for the first time in my life...that's weird! But awesome! The biggest challenge is drinking all the protein shakes. I really do not like them...a few are better than others. Followed by ...yucky chewable vitamins. Seriously? I swear they tasted better pre-op. All a small price to pay...but can't wait for 3 week mushy foods. I enjoyed Easter despite all the food and candy...and watching others eat. I didn't find it tempting or feel deprived...I simply wish I didn't have to drink any thing protein fortified! I hate protein shakes ! That is all.
