I thought the request for surgery had been submitted on Monday when Dr. S's office said they had the wrong fax number and I gave them the correct one. But I was mistaken. It seems Ann is the glue to that office and with her on vacation they are afraid to take on her desk.

But it was sent at 10:30 am this morning. Wait and see....

I think I am the most impatient person in the world.

The psychologist called late Friday and said she had sent the report to the surgeon's office a few minutes prior to her call.

It is everything I can do to keep from calling the surgeon's office to make sure they received the report and that they are sending it on it's way to the insurance company.

AAHH.

I had my dietician appointment today and everything went well. We spoke of OH and the wonderful Texas Message Board. We went over what you eat, don't eat, eat some... all that jazz.

It happens that she is also the insurance coordinator so we spent some time talking about insurance. She feels very confident that I will be approved without much problem, but she also cautioned that this is the insurance company we are talking about.

She (Ann) is on vacation next week but planned to have everything ready to fax the request when they receive the report from the psych evaluation on Thursday or Friday. I also need to ask my knee surgeon for a letter of support for the WLS. Ann said she didn't think it was necessary, but it could help.

Psych evaluation on Monday.

I called Dr, Swanson's office to check on progress. I told Ann I didn't think they had submitted the request just yet, but I was wondering when she thought it would be sent so I can stay on BCBSGA. I told her that I didn't think the insurance companies should have all the fun. She laughed and said she was going over my chart when I called. (Really? Isn't that kinda like "The check's in the mail"?) Anyway, she made my appointment with their office for the nutritionist visit and told me to go ahead and schedule my psych eval. I also need to get the stuff from the PCP in line.

At least things are moving, right?

Nutritionist visit is this Thursday.

I called my nutjob doc and she was concerned that she wouldn't have the proper or right amount of information in her report so she suggested I go with the docs the surgeon recommended. I really wanted to use my regular doc, but it is just a temporary thing... right?

And then the PCP. I *just* had a surgical medical clearance visit with her about a month ago. I was going to have knee surgery #19, but I chickened out. Well, not chickened out really. I didn't see the point of it. They wanted to do yet another roto-rooter on the knee to buy me more time. I can't go through another surgery for something that may or may not help and if it does help, it could only be for a few weeks. I know, be optimistic, but I am a professional knee patient. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. The shirt is to effin small. SOOOO, back on topic... I am still waiting to hear from PCP about sending the medical clearance paperwork to Dr. Swanson as well as a letter of medical necessity. We spoke in depth about WLS when I was in for the clearance. Hopefully that is enough for her to go ahead and send in all the info.

So that's it. Just sit back and wait after that, right? We have dedicated customer service with BCBS to Coke employees, so I am hoping that will speed things up. The BCBS rep told me they say to allow 15 business days for a response to the request, but she said it rarely takes that long. We will see.

I called to harass BCBS today about my approval. They hadn't received the request from my doctor yet (I didn't expect them to, I was just messing with them) but she did give me the fax number so they can expedite the request. I thought that was nice! Maybe this is a good sign!?!
