I finally have some time to complete this section! I am and have been overweight all my life. I come from big people on both sides of my family. As my (Paternal) Grandmother once said(with love in her heart) "you have no chances of ever being thin my dear". Well now maybe I do! After many years of failed diets and exercise, I decided to look into Gastric Bypass Surgery. I first saw Dr. Klien in Toronto(Nov 2005). I was going to try and do self pay $15,000 for a Lap band. Unfortunately I could not come up with the financing(well I could have but paying the required bills would have been difficult LOL!)So, I got on the list for Gastric by-pass surgery, which we all know has a significant waiting period(2-3years). I wanted to have the surgery sooner then later for many reasons, but mostly because I wanted to have more children. But I wanted to be at a healthier weight while pregnant.
I had my Dietician appointment in April 2006, and met Tammy Patterson, who told me about this website. I started checking it out and found out about OOC approval for surgery in the USA. With the help of Mary Lou, from Aylmer ON and the many posts on OH website, I decided to apply and now have been successful at getting approved for surgery in Rochester, NY with Dr.O'Malley.
My first of three Nutrional appointments is scheduled for June 29/06. Hopefully, I will be having my surgery by early Fall 2006.
