I haven't been overweight all my life. As a matter of fact, I was a very thin child and teenager. My mom was an alcoholic and when she was drunk, she said mean things. The one thing that really stuck to me was I had a big butt. Looking back on it, I realize I did NOT have a big butt. I was 5'7” and weighed 125 pounds. My boyfriend [and now husband] was 6 feet tall and weighted 120 pounds. He wore a 29 inch waist jeans. When we married, we wore the same jeans! So I doubt I had a big butt.  I remained thin until I had my fourth child at the age of 30. Something about the 30's changes things. With the first three babies, the weight just fell off, but after the fourth one, I had to fight to shed those last few pounds. As soon as I reached my goal weight, I got pregnant again. This time I didn't lose the extra weight. A couple of years later I had my sixth child and again, I held onto the extra weight. That was the being of the end. I have tried every crazy diet known to man. Even the cabbage soup diet! But all I ever did was lose a few pounds to later put on even more. I was the yo-yo diet cycle! Now, 13 years after the birth of my last baby, I am 121 pounds overweight. It is time to end the cycle! I have made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery. I have one more appointment with the doctor's supervised diet. I had my psych eval yesterday and will see the dietitian for my nutritional eval on Monday. I am so excited about the future. I can't wait to be able to take hikes with my family rather than be the one to wait with the 'stuff'. I can't wait to be able to sit on the floor and the be able to get up again!
