Cross my legs. Sit crossed legged on the floor.

A Reminder to Myself

I'm an emotional eater- I eat sweet, starchy foods to comfort myself, calm myself down, and treat myself. The last several weeks I've been working hard at changing this, and as a result I've lost 11 lbs. However, I still slip up from time to time and need to remind myself I don't need unhealthy foods to manage my emotions.

Ways I Can Soothe Myself Without Using Junk Food

  • Take several slow, deep breaths
  • Take a bubblebath, and read in the tub
  • Smell or light my favourite Clove-Pomegranate scented candle
  • Lather myself in scented body butter
  • Make a cup of peppermint tea
  • Have a cup of warm milk with a splash of SF syrup

Ways I Can Treat Myself Without Using Junk Food

  • New bath bomb or bubble bar from Lush
  • New body butter from the Body Shop
  • New nail polish or lipstick
  • Facial or manicure
  • Sushi delivery or homemade pita pizza and a scary movie

Ways I Can Distract Myself When I Want to Eat Junk Food

  • Read and/or post on Obesity Helps
  • Check my Aeroplan miles balance and research the trip I'd like to take after I reach my goal weight
  • Research plastic surgerons and proceedures for loose skin removal
  • Go through my smaller sized clothes and collection of high heels
  • Deposit $20 into my savings account (instead of spending it on junk food)
  • EXERCISE- walk for 5, 15, or 30 minutes on the treadmill, maybe while watching a scary movie

Last but Not Least...I can always munch on some toasted coconut chips (no sugar, no salt, just organic roasted coconut). Better yet, mix them in some plain Greek yogourt and add a splash of SF syrup.
