Hi all. I'm Karen. I had the Lap Band WLS November 14, 2008. I have been having a constant struggle with my weight for years prior and after having two kids I got fed up. I knew I had to do something. I couldn't walk up the stairs that well, and I was always out of breath after doing simple things. I wanted to be healthier for my children, my husband, and myself. After seeing the results from a Gastric Bypass I talked to my Doctor and she reconmended me for Lap Band. I wanted something that wasn't going to cause drastic weightloss. I wanted slow and simple. Which is I got from the lap band.

I started at 225 and now 8 months later I'm done to 185. I have been stuck here for a while. I think that has something to do with stress though for the most part. I started a 20/22 and I'm in 11/12. So, obviously, I'm doing something right. I am very happy with my surgery and I would do it again. I think it was the best thing for me to do because I have tried so many differetn things and nothing was helping. I also have severe back issues, so I can only do some much exercising and all.

I would like to reach my goal of 125 or a size 6 or 8. I don't know how long it will take to get there, but who knows. I also am looking into getting a tummy tuck and possibly breast reduction in the future because I know that would help a lot with the extra weight and pressure on my back. I was very lucky to have my insurance pay for the surgery, and hopefully the insurance will pay for the cosmetic surgury as well.

I wish everyone the best of luck with their upcoming surgery or the end results afterwards. It's defiantly a hard process for it all. I was told that I was taking the easy way out by having this surgery. It's for sure far from being the easy way out. That two weeks liquid diet I was on was hard enough by its self. :)
