Hello, my name is Karil, and i am 47 1/2 years old, and i am getting ready to have gastric bypass.  I have battled with my weight every since i was 16 years old, when at 140 pounds, i thought i was fat!  So, once i started focusing on food, weight, diets, etc., i have had a weight problem, and yo yo dieted myself all the way to 310 pounds!

Everyday is such a struggle. I had a hysterectomy last November and it has been all down hill since then! I am tired, sore, and have aches and pains all the time.  I have high blood pressure and obstructive sleep apnea, and sometimes its hard to breath when i am just sitting on the couch!  I also have been "sort of" diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  I say "sort of" because that is the label my Primary Care Dr finally gave me after i saw the Rheumetologist and he didn't come up with any reason for my pain/aches/fatigue, etc...This is a horrible way to live.  If i could go back and live my life over again, i would never have gone on that first diet.  My mother was morbidly obese, and she used to say to me "Karil, lose weight when you are young, cause when you get old, it gets harder!".  Well, i wish she would have just said, never get fat in the first place, but then again, maybe that wouldn't have mattered.  My surgeon said that obesity is a disease, and when you look at it like that, it makes sense.

I am so tired of these "thin no-it alls" that try and be helpful with their "just cut back on your calorie amount" or "just walk a little everyday", etc...Do they think i haven't tried those things?  I have starved myself, and exercised for a grand total of an 8 pound loss, only to gain it back eating one or two "non diet" meals!!!

I have met with my Surgeon, Dr Leslie McClellan, as well as her team.  I have all my history documentation, and am now in the final phase of "physician supervised weight loss", and am hoping to be approved for surgery before the end of the year.

My goal is to be around 150 by my 50th birthday in 2 1/2 years!!
