I AM A HORRIBLE BLOGGER!!!

Oct 30, 2009

LOL!!!  Okay so let's be honest, I am not great at keeping up with my notes here on my journey.  So all I can do is to type here now how things are going.  I am three months out from surgery and I am doing graet.

I have had no complications.  I feel good. I can eat pretty much anything I want. I am not the greatest example of WLS as I rarely measure my food but I do hold true to these principles....

I eat slowly and chew thoroughly.
I drink a lot.
I do not drink with meals.
I am very protein focused when I do eat.
I sleep well.
I will have a treat here and there but typically avoid starches and sugars.  I don't dump really so I try to just avoid altogether so I don't get myself into trouble.
I eat consistantly through the day.
I listen to my body.
I try new things.

I have lost 60 pounds and am feeling great.  The weight is melting off.  I know that I need more exercise and I need to put more attention towards the protein and water.  I am a work in progress~!  :)

I am amazed at the changes in myself....

Could this actually be working?

Things Are Moving Quickly Now.....

Jul 17, 2009

My consultation with Dr. Taylor on Tuesday went very well.  He put me at ease answering questions and was very clear in his explanation of the whole process.  I really like that he has a quiet confidence but does not come off as arrogant.

So, after the group session and the one on one consultation - where Dr. Taylor reassured me that he would not break me - he had a picture taken of me and then sent me right off to scheduling!!!

I came home knowing my PATS date and my surgery date!!!  PATS  July 28th and Surgery August 6, 2009!!!!  Three weeks and I will officially be a surgical freak with my insides rearranged and on my way to hopefully some amazing results!!!!

I am excited although I don't really think that I will relax until I know for sure that I have done PATS and are cleared for surgery.

Can't wait to start losing!!!!

Finally on My Way to Ypsilanti Tomorrow for Consult.....

Jul 13, 2009

So tomorrow I am finally on my way for consultation at Barix with Dr. Taylor in Michigan.  I feel like this has taken forever to get all of my ducks in a row but at the same time....compared to some it has not taken long at all.  I am approved for OHIP, have my  paperwork and passport ready to go to get me across the border.  I am so thankful that my parents have been able and willing to take me to my appointment.  I am excited because Anne from Barix called me today to confirm that I would be there tomorrow and let me know that I should be prepared to have surgery within four weeks if all goes as planned.  She said that due to the fact that I am relatively healthy Dr. Taylor may not require any extra tests....just PATS and then surgery.  She said things will happen very quickly after tomorrow.  I am so excited but a little nervous at the same time.  Been thinking about how difficult it may be to change my head after surgery and say good-bye to my unhealthy relationship with food.  Been wondering how it will be to attend social situations revolving around food..... My biggest concern however is that I heal properly and quickly.  I am young and determined and have a positive attitude....I want this to be a success.....a life changing one.  I have such high hopes and want things to go smoothly and successfully.

Monday June 22 I received a phone call from my doctor's office letting me know that I had received approval for surgery.  I was so thrilled.  I felt a new hope all day long!  Now I am just going about figuring how to get down to Ypsilanti for the appointments. I am on my way!!!

OHHH THE WAITING!!!!!

Jun 16, 2009

So, the papers have been faxed to OHIP.  A request was sent from OHIP to my doctors because he had not checked one of the boxes.  Doctor refused to make changes sent back the response.  OHIP denied me for OOC.  Went to see my doctor to "discuss".  He agreed after much discussion that he would check one of the boxes.  Papers were faxed back to OHIP.  Now I wait, and wait , and wait.  I call three times a week.  Dianne at OHIP is so wonderfully patient....thank goodness for that!

I wish I could put more time into typing out my whole story and progress in my blogs.  I will make a better attempt next time because I really would like to have my journey documented.....

Oh well, for now you have the brief version and can see what I have been up to!

Now, off I go to wait some more!

Went to My Family Doctor's To Discuss....

Apr 29, 2009

So today I visited my family doctor. He is quite a lovely man and has agreed that he would give me referrals to wherever I would like as I pursue having weight loss surgery.  I had been in contact with Dr. Reed's office in Guelph and it looks like they are not even booking appointments until late Fall 2008 with surgery 6 to 8 months after that.  This would be putting surgery well into 2010.  Knowing this, I have made a decision to pursue possibly having surgery in the US (Barix Ypsilanti) so I have begun the process of getting all of the appropriate forms filled out to send to my doctors and have them sign them!
