Marlboro's Burn Rubber with the Pros Drifting Event...

Mar 02, 2009

was AWESOME!!! I got to Irwindale Speedway about 1:00 this afternoon and got checked in, signed wavers, etc. Then went to another tent and got my number and backpack with goodies in it. Went to a second tent and got to put on a racing suit for a picture in front of a blue screen (got to take the racing suit off after having the picture taken.. In a third tent got racing gloves and a "head sock" that goes under the helmet, then got fitted for a racing helmet (I take a medium...lol). In a fourth tent, we met the gal that was head of our group and went to a tent to wait until it was our turn to get on the track. In the mean time, we got to sit in an Indy car and have pictures taken and got the scoop on the Indy cars and what the buttons are for on the steering wheel. Then we headed out to the track and got called in groups by the number we received when we arrived. My number was #80. There were about 25 people in our group. They called about 8-10 people at a time to get in the Mustangs. We did 2 different runs. The first run was on the 1/3 mile oval track and I had a female driver. She was good! It was so much fun. She blasted the stereo. The second run went between the 1/2 mile track and the paved in-field. I had a gentleman the second time. I told him to 'haul ass'm and he did. After our group was finished on the track, we went to a final tent call the Finish Line where they had food and drinks set up for us. They had Caesar salad with large Gulf shrimp, pasta salad, fresh fruit, roasted fingerling potatoes, chicken in a creamy terragon sauce, tri-tip in a mushroom demi glace, hot dogs and chili. Oh, and dessert was assorted cookies. I had 2 shrimp from the Caesar salad, about 1/4 of the slice of tri-tip and some fruit. I was good and bypassed the cookies...lol I grabbed a bottle of water on my way out to the parking lot. While we were having lunch, they had us fill out a comment card regrding our experience. I gave them 9s and 10s. I would absolutely do this again. We also received a red and diamond plate coffee mug and a Swiss Army watch as parting gifts. All in all it was the experience of a lifetime. I had soooo much fun!! I am posting pix right after I finish posting this.
