Beginning my weight loss journey

Oct 08, 2012

Weight loss journey, that is what it feels like when I finally decided to have weight loss surgery.  I have been over weight for most of my life, and obese since the birth of my first child, 23 years ago.  My body can no longer support all of this weight and it is painfully telling me that it will not function like this much longer.  So, I have personally seen the good, the bad and the ugly of weight loss surgery.  I have seen a person that has lost the weight and looks great.  I have seen a person that lost the weight and then gained it back.  I have seen a person that was in ICU and could have lost their life because of weight loss surgery.  But I must take this journey to better my life and hopefully the life that I have with my husband and children.  So my journey with my insurance company will be a long and bumpy ride.  It started in July with a visit to the Endocrinologist and the word that I did not want to hear was Diabetic and she let me know that I have all of the signs pointing that way.  Then came the blood work and setting up appointments to start my weight loss boot camp.  Dietitians, therapist, reading, and support groups are the tools that are going to help me thought this journey to permanent weight loss and a healthy life. I have learned so much about myself and why I have used food as a friend instead of fuel for my body.  I now know that I can and will be successful in maintaining the weight loss after surgery. With all of the information that I have read and have been told, I now feel as though I am truly ready to graduate boot camp and have the surgery and ease on down the road to weight loss!
