The surgeon gave me the go ahead
Dec 14, 2010
I have been through a number of tests and visits to St Joe's since I last wrote. I had a whole bunch of blood work done, had an ECG.....filled out a HUGE questionaire...Met the social worker, Dietitician, Nurse and today I met the surgeon. I was supposed to be going for my Scope on friday but Krista just called me and had to re-book for Jan 14th...which sucks but it is really not that big of a deal. The surgeon said I am a great candidate for the surgery and thinks I will be very successful. I have to go back to St Joe's on Dec 23rd for the education class and then Jan 14th I have the scope and then I should find out my surgery date - YIPPEE !!!!!! The surgeon told me today that it will probably be in March which is what I have been calcuating in my own mind so I am happy with that. I wan't to have surgery when it is still cold out so I can be down a few pounds when the weather starts getting nice and I can start alot more activity outside. I am starting off with walking and then when I loose a bit I would like to join a gym and then eventaully start jogging. I aksed for an IPOD for christmas so I can listen to tunes while becoming more active- I am nervous and EXCITED becauseI do know now that this will happen some day and I will be on the loser's bench before I know it !!!!!

FIRST DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT
May 18, 2010
Ok, Well I just got back from seeing my doctor and YES she is going to refer me for Bariatric Surgery. I know I have a long road ahead of me from here. In hamilton it is a 3--5 month waiting period just to get an appointment. But I feel good knowing that I made a start to what will be an awarding journey in the long run. I am being sent for some blood tests so that my doctor can include the results in my referral. The only thing is to hope that OHIP will cover my surgery. I feel nervous right now, lol, think that it is a little early for the nervous feelings, it could be 2011 before I even get the surgery. Keeping fingers crossed.

Made a Dcotor's appointment to talk about options
May 17, 2010
Well, After years and years of yo yo dieting and failure, I am going to see my doctor to see if I may be a candidate for weight loss surgery. I wan to be able to live a healthy life and I keep gaining and so it is time to think about this. I must say, I am very nervous. I don't even know if my doctor will refer me or not but I go tomorrow morning to discuss my options. You have to start somewhere..right?? ....I know if I do get t he surgery it will be a long process to get a surgery date but I don't want to put this off any longer.
The surgery itself scares me a little- reading success stories and HORROR stories and hoping I will fit into the success part. Anyone out there that regrets getting it done?? I want to educate myself as much as I can so that when the times comes I make the right decision. I currently weigh 255 pounds and am 5'3 so, i need to lose a little over a hundred pounds.
