My story is really not different than most of yours....a life of up and down weight issues.  Though I was never heavy as a child I was also never thin.  Perhaps there were times when I pretended....usually following a difficult diet...I always waited for the weight to return; and it was very consistant and always did!  I remember dieting to get into my wedding dress, dieting to be thin to date when I divorced, dieting to prepare for meetings, vacations, everything.  I guage "good" summers by whether I am in a "thinner" phase or a heavy phase....I look forward to winter becasue I can cover up my body.  This is no way to live!

I have two incredible children...one almost through college, one just beginning, a wonderful boyfriend and a dog who, bless his little heart, loves my lap best (probably a litle softer than some!)

And so it's time, at the age of 47, to do something different.  What is more different than surgery?  After trying EVERY diet multiple times this is my last hope.  I am not at a weight that is typically insurable for this; however I am clearly, very overweight at 242 pounds.  So, as a single mother, with not much extra in the way of money I am spending the whopping 16K it takes to take this step.  I promised my doctor that I would be a perfect patient, a poster child for the lap band.  I want very much to do well, tolerate the procedure and the following recovery and lifestyle changes...I am determined to be a success story.  Having said that I will do my part....I promise!

And so.....my next chapeter will be next Thursday April 10th when I join the world of "bandsters" I'll be back to write that as soon as I can!
