Update on my fall. I'm doing GREAT
Mar 11, 2024
Hello again , I'm back with an update. I do take everything the Dr says for vitamins now, they've added Zinc and Magnesium as well as changed my vitamin D to Vitamin D3 + K2. I guess it's making a big difference because the orthopedic surgeon was afraid I might need surgery but he said I healed up great and he was surprised , so I'm happy, wasn't looking forward to shoulder replacement. I'm back to walking again with my cane, just got released from the dumb boot thing so I can wear a shoe again. That boot is heavy.
Best news I ONLY GAINED 2 POUNDS SINCE NOV 4, 2023, when I fell.
Woohoo, I'm happy with that.
My husband and I have already been fishing and gone for little walks. I'm doing chair exercises.
Making protein coffee, trying to get back on track.
Oh and the infusion for the osteoporosis medication was easy 15 minutes it was done, do it once a year. The endocrinologist said that it's what they recommend for gastric bypass patients because it's easier on our stomachs, just an FYI for you.

Stressed out and struggling
Feb 05, 2024
I've been really struggling last 8 yrs to be honest. I stopped taking my vitamins properly back then and suffered consequences, RIGHT knee replacement ended up with broken femur, unfortunately not caught for a week though. This resulted in 6 more surgeries in 2 1/2 yrs on my knee. Wasn't expected to walk again but I surprised everyone and did. UNFORTUNATELY, All those years in wheelchair made me gain 75 lbs, since I was. I longer hiking and biking 60-80 miles a week and going to the gym.
Then, fell and broke my RIGHT wrist, which didn't heal properly, this too resulted in surgery with pins and plate. Started getting back to my love of fishing and losing weight, down 59 lbs
When life dealt me another blow, not quite year later, passed out, (they don't know why) but when I fell, I broke my left shoulder at the neck of the ball joint and my right ankle in 3 PLACES so was on complete BEDREST, non weight bearing for 11 weeks.
Learning to walk again, is VERY hard and painful. Luckily my husband has been helping me keep on track food wise once I got home from the nursing home. No idea what I weigh, but my clothes still fit so I take that as a win. Now I've been diagnosed with SEVERE OSTEOPOROSIS, just got the infusion for it, hope it helps.
Not sure why I'm writing this, maybe someone else has been here or understand and can help me get out of this funk. I maintained so well until my damn knee replacement.
Now exercise is so hard, I follow my nutritionist and Drs plans, but feel like I need to do more. IDK
Just frustrated. Thank you if you've read this far. Hugs
7 1/2 years out and struggling
Jul 08, 2014
I had 3 different jaw surgeries in one year which resulted in having my jaw wired shut, so was on blended food and NO exercise allowed for over a year (who knew even walking was hard on your jaw? I didn't) well the first surgery I livedon mashed potatoes and sugar freeice cream not good I know. But I was scared and frustrated. Long story short I put on ALOT of weight. I got up to 198 lbs. I decided then and there to take back my life and use my tool the best I could given my circumstances. And started using protein drinks etc. To day I'm down to 180 lbs I still have a way to go. I know I can do it. I'm able to go back to the gym now. I'm in size 12 - 14. People still say ilook great, which is nice but I don't feel great so I need to do it for me noone else. I'm still s success by kaisers records. Dr dutta told me 190 was my goal weight. But I'm no longer weight watchers lifetime that upsets me.my goal is to be lifetime again. Sound crazy? Maybe but its my goal. I can say I still don't eat pasta, rice, chew gum, drink soda use straw etc. If I can gain weight without these things I don't want to even try them. I did find out that I love spaghetti squash and so I can have "spaghetti" I also have lasagna using zucchini as noodles. Super yummy. Don't give up you can do it

Anyone out there going through this, know it is worth it.
As of today its been about 5 years since Ive had Soda, used a straw, had cAffeine, pasta, rice, gum, etc. I still dont eat or drink what they told me we were not supposed to. I know to many people who found out that they could still eat/drink that stuff and then have gained weight because of it. I figure Ive made it this far and dont miss it why chance it..
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE
3 YEARS OUT AND DOING GREAT
Nov 24, 2009
I still keep track of what I eat and average about 1200-1300 calories a day if it is a super busy day for me at the gym I eat a little more, and I still take my protein drinks. I am one who cannpt eat that much at one time, so 3 meals a day with no snacks doesn't work for me, I eat about every 3 hours like clock work otherwise I don't get enough calories in which isn't good.

FOR ANYONE THINKING OF HAVING THIS SURGERY, I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT. ALSO, LIVE LIKE YOU HAVE ALREADY HAD IT TO GET USED TO IT WHILE YOU STILL HAVE A CHOICE, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY AND EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE,IT HELPS WITH THE WEIGHT LOSS AS WELL AS THE EXCESS SKIN.
When I had my surgery I had a 66" waist I now have a 30" waist WITH MY EXCESS SKIN., Plus I have gone from a size 10 wide shoe to a regular size 7 1/2, and my ring was a 9 3/4 I now wear a size 5. Also, take pictures every month or so and marl your weight on them to see the difference. I kept one outfit frombefore it is amazing whenI put it on now. I actgually have a picture of me standing with both legs in one leg of my old pants. That is an amazing thing.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS ON THERE WAY, YOU CAN DO IT
