I haven't met with Dr. Starr yet. I went to an orientation/information session back in September. I've had a couple of calls from the doctors office regarding my questionnaire. They told me I would be getting an appointment with the doctor in November. I haven't heard anything yet. I am waiting patiently.

This site is very helpful. It's amazing what everyone has achieved here.

I have gone from not hearing anything to having my surgery on March 5th. I met with Dr. Starr at the end of January. He was so nice and supportive. As were his assistants. Not sure what else to write about them other than they have been fantastic.

I went to my prescreening appointment this week. Crazy how thorough they are and all the tests they run. Xrays and more blood work and meeting more nurses--going over everything. EVERYTHING. I've filled out many forms about my health and lifestyle, and answered questions the nurses, social workers and doctors ask. The one question they ask is if I use illegal drugs. I don't. But I finally asked the one nurse, 'does anybody ever answer yes?'. She said of course they do. The info is confidential. Guess it's obvious I don't use? Give me beer or wine anytime, but smoke joint, I eat everything in sight and then sleep.

Anyhow, I start the protien liquid optifast diet tomorrow (don't know how I'll manage that--when I get hungry, I get hungry). Two weeks until surgery. March 5th. Excited and nervous. I'm nervous about the recovery. Like how long it will take to heal. How much pain? I've had surgeries in the past, but they were to mend broken bones. Pain...yup! But this will be different.

Anyways...happy days are here!
