"Karen was very nice on the phone, I have an appointment for 02/24/00 and they are going to call me sooner if they have any cancellations. I can not wait! I am so nervous.
02/24/00 Karen was very informative and straight forward about what to expect from the insurance company. I am going to see a "sleeping disorder" specialist to be checked for sleep apnea. Dr. Waits feels like I have it and if I do, that will give us a greater chance for approval. Karen said it would be about three weeks for the approval process. HAVE YOUR WEIGHT / DIET HISTORY WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT!!! That way they can go ahead and get everything sent on to the Ins. Co.! Dr. Wait's office conducts group meetings for his patience on the second Thursday of every month. It is a requirement to attend atleast one. I plan on attending as often as I can!
Dr. Waits was clear on the risk of surgery. I am choosing the Open RNY. I read a story about a lady who had a lot of problems because too much intestine was by passed. I want the Open because it is reversable and that makes me more comfortable.
03/13/00 Dr. Waits is a busy man! He does require that you go to his support group which I attended last Thursday! What a great group of people!
05/08/00 Post Op almost four weeks! Dr. Waits is the greatest. Some of the nurses at the hospital were less than accomodating. Dr. W is very informative and stern. He expects you to follow his rules and is very encouraging when you do so. I would rate Dr. Waits an 8 on a scale of 1-10."
