It's better to do this with someone - NOT

Jun 18, 2015

I just had my revision gastric bypass, from vertical staple, last Friday.  I heard several people say it's so better if you can go through the process with someone.  Well, my best friend also got a different revision done Monday of this week.  So we had surgery 3 days apart.  But my story for now is about how IT IS NOT easier to do this with someone, at least not in my case.  I know we had different revisions, however, the drama is overwhelming. First off, our insurance differences. I had to pay about 5 times as much as her, even though our doctor was out of network for both, yes, so why such a huge difference from the doctors side!!!??? She got to use her regular doctor for stress test, I had to use someone they said I needed to use. Of course, it cost more than regular doctor copay! She gets to start having soups after just 1 week, while for some reason I get to wait 3 weeks. She got out of the hospital after 1 day, I had to stay a 2nd day and I have no idea why! Everything was good. She gets her staples out after 2 weeks, but not me, I get to have mine for 3!!! I only had one more small cut than her!!! And the icing on the cake today was she tells me she’s lost 5 pounds in 4 days, and I’ve only lost 7 in 6 days! So my advice – DO NOT DO THIS SURGERY SIDE BY SIDE WITH SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU!!! I know we are all doing what’s best for our own body, and it’s not a competition, but when everything on your side of it is the worse, how does that make you feel better??? I have actually cried several nights because of this.
