I didn't qualify for weight loss surgery, so in January of 2006 I began my own journey of changing my lifestyle. I wasn't overweight growing up or even in my early adulthood. After I had my 3rd and 4th children (twins) the pounds steadily built. Then I was diagnosed Bipolar at the age of 40. I spent almost 3 years closed off from the world and gained 30-40 lbs on top of the 50 lbs I was already over my ideal weight. One day after being secluded for so long, I made the decision to pull myself out and start my life over with a new attitude and eating lifestyle. I decided to go the portion control route. I balanced my meals with the proper proteins, vegetables, carbs, milk and fruits. Each day I consciously made a plan of what to eat. After 3-4 months it became natural, I learned to pay attention to when I was satisfied and not full. I learned to eat a half of a brownie instead of 4 or 5. I have strayed from the strict regimine and have gained 20 lbs back. Seeing the joy my best friend is experiencing has inspired me to get back on course, so January 5th I jumped back on the horse and have already lost 7 lbs. Too many times we fall off the horse and think its over,,we can't do it. but the horse is standing there waiting for you to jump back on. Now I am riding again :)
I love you Susan bleu_eyes1. You are my hero.
