I had WLS in 2003, one yr after my 4th chlid was born. I was heavy most of my life starting in Jr. high school. I was always aware that I was just a bit over weight, but it wasn't until my adults yrs that it was getting out of hand. After many attempts at different weight loss products and meds from the doctors, I went into looking at surgery. My starting weight was about 275lbs.  My husband had surgery in July of 2000, and I saw what it had done for him.

As my knees were starting to hurt when I walked and My back (which I had disc that were compressed sending numbness and pain down my legs) were troubling me so much that it kept me from even going to the store. My  doctor sent letters to the insurance company to help me get the surgery. They finally approved it and I was off to the hosptial. Now looking back I am still happy I had the surgery. I have to be on top of my blood levels every 6 months due to the fact I am very low on Iron and have the tendency to slip back down (with shots it levels back out) even on oral suppliments. I still have about 60 more pounds to go. It has been a slow go for me as my back still gives me fits from time to time.

I moved from Il, just across the river from St. Louis, MO down to the Dallas area 2 1/2 years ago. That too was a big change that I think set me back a while. Now I am trying to get motivated again as I have to get ready for my niece's wedding in March!
