Hi everyone, i'm 45 years old and weigh 260lbs.  I was always thin as a kid and very active, loved gymnastics, volleyball and running. Right out of high school I dated a guy for six years.  We went out to eat at nice resturants or at his mothers house on a nightly basis.  This is when I started packing on the pounds.  I went from a size 9 to a size 11 and he dumped me because of my weight gain.   (By the way , he is triple my size today)!  Anyways, I can't  blame my weight gain on anyone but myself.   I am now about 135lbs overweight and i'm feeling it!  I have arthritis in my spine and knees and i'm having a hard time with stairs or even walking.  I'm finding myself out of breath doing the simplest things.  I have always been an outgoing person who has to be doing something at all times or I get bored.  Now, i'm quite the opposite, I find myself coming up with excuses for staying home and have no motivation to go anywere with friends or family. I just don't want to be seen!  Like most of you out there, I have tried every diet plan and pill on the market.  I have finally decided to have weight loss surgery.  Many people I work with have had the gastric bypass surgery and they all look great.  That got me thinking about the surgery myself.  After talking with everyone that has had the surgery, going to seminars, and doing a lot of research on the internet on bariatric surgery options, I have dedided to have the lap-band surgery.  I feel the risks are much more minimal than gastric bypass.   I know the band is not a quick fix but it will be a jump-start to give me the motivation I need to change my eating habits and live a healthier lifestyle.
