 How to break a plateau:

#1 - Do this for 10 days at break a plateau

#2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day

#3 - You must have 50 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day.

#4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5X’s a day

beef

pork

chicken

turkey

lamb

fish

eggs

low fat cheese

cottage cheese

plain yogurt or artificially sweetened

peanut butter ( the original doesn’t say...but I would limit this to once a day....also I would only do one serving size and NOT 3 oz. )

beans/legumes

You may also have :

sugar free popcicles

tea or coffee

sugar free jello

broths/ boullion

crystal light drinks

#5 - If it is not on the list, you can’t have it for 10 days !!!

#6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 minutes of exercise daily.

In addition to the Plateau Buster, you can change up your exercise plan as well. Such as if you are walking, change up things and do other exercises every other day so that you are not doing the same things on a daily basis. You can also add in weights. Good luck !!!

4 weeks out.....

Sep 01, 2009

and LOVING my life!!!  I started out at 278 on May 22nd when I started this journey.  Today my scale said 219!!!  I can not remember the last time I weighed that!  All my clothes are huge on me and I'm not complaining!  I still have hunger issues but I remind myself that it is in my head and I don't need anything.  If it's really bad I grab a sf popsicle and it's all good!  I have tons more energy, I don't nap at all, I eat my 3-4 ozs at each meal and I'm good to go.  I know I'm still in the happy honeymoon stage but it is so much easier than I thought!  All the foods that my nut have me trying are agreeing with me so I have quite a variety and in a couple weeks I get to add more so I can't see getting bored with the food,  it's all yummy and healthy!  I love eating this way!  It's good, it's filling and it's healthy!  Who knew????  I don't need McD's or mall food!  I do have an occasional starbucks as a treat but I do it with skim milk and SF syrup so even that's yummy but healthier!!!  The first 2 weeks were really rough and at times I felt like it would never end and at times I wondered why I thought I wanted to live my life like this.  Well....after my 1 month dr. appt changed everything!  I had lost so much weight and then I was able to eat some different foods and I feel "normal" again!  This is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I thank God every day for allowing this to happen.

Tough but great weekend!

Aug 25, 2009

We took the kids to the Wisconsin Dells this past weekend and it was so much fun!  It was also difficult for me.  It tested me almost at every turn.  I'm 3 weeks out today and I knew I would have trying times.  We got to the Dells and checked into a great room and then headed out for supper.  Of course the kids wanted to go to Moosejaw.  I ordered chicken noodle soup.  While I watched everyone eat yummy stuff.  No biggie, I was satisfied and all was good.  Next morning was fine Tim took the kids downstairs for a quick breakfast while I got ready and had chicken soup.  Spent the day out and about  and stopped at Country Kitchen for lunch...had mashed potatoes, no gravy.  Ok, that was fine.  Spent the rest of the day at the amusement park and the kids wanted Kentucky Fried Chicken (my favorite!)  so I ordered the taters....again.  Only ate 1/2.  But smelling the chicken about put me over the edge.  Sunday morning...kids to McD's me soup.  Headed to the water park for the day.  Late lunch by the pool...well, kids have cheesy fries and hotdogs....I have.....water.  Nothing in the area that I can have.  I wanted those fries sooooo bad.  Now, before I get comments about my kids eating habits...we were on vacation and that is the only reason they were eating this way.  This is not how they eat normally.  We started home and again I had mashed taters.  Needless to say I'm  tired of taters.   It was an awesome weekend but a little tough, but I did it and I feel great about that.  I don't think I miss the junk/fast food, I just miss that I can't just order something.  But I know this won't last and before I know it I will be eating "normal" food again.

This is my first blog entry...EVER!

Aug 19, 2009

I'm very behind the times with this blogging thing.  But since I would rather type than write this is better than a journal.  My weight problems have been on going since I was in high school.  I was a chubby 10 yr old and then I hit high school and got into sports and the weight just melted off.  And boy did people notice!  I had never had so many compliments about how I looked...teachers, coaches, friends, family.  Well, I really liked that so I quit eating.  Just like that.  And after I would eat I would go make myself throw up.  I did that for about a year until my mom started noticing things and said if I didn't start eating she was putting my in the hospital.  Well, she got through to me and I did eat more and gained weight.  Then went to college and back to the old habits.  Aftrer a couple of years I finally got over that spell.  I gained some weight back but I was healthy.  Then I met my husband my junior year and I was too busy to eat much and I was running every day.   I got very skinny and felt awesome.  Fast forward almost 16 yrs and 3 kids....my highest weight that I know of was 278 on May 22nd, 2009.  I made food a major part of my life.  Family gatherings....eat.  Date night.....eat.  Birthdays....eat.  Girls night out....eat.  Depressed...eat.  Happy...eat.  Sad...eat.  I decided I couldn't live that way anymore.  So on August 4th I had RNY at the University of Iowa and so begins my "new' life!  I've lost 49 lbs so far and I can't wait to keep losing!
