"Dr. Joya, along with his team, is an excellent and experienced surgeon. My first impression is that he is a warm man, intent on being a good surgeon. His office staff, including Gerald and Nicole, as well as the medical staff, were attentive and friendly. My experience in Puerto Vallarta getting the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery was great. I'm 10 days out, and I feel so good I have to remind myself I just had surgery so I don't overdo it! Dr. Joya encourages contact after surgery, for a lifetime. If you need his staff, they'll be available by e-mail or phone. Dr. Joya's bedside manner is very warm - he is very busy, so you don't see him for long prior to your surgery, but he encourages questions. After my surgery, I had so many visitors on the surgical staff (three docs!) plus the psychologist, I never felt neglected. The nursing staff at San Javier hospital were also attentive and friendly, though you really should learn a few phrases in spanish, or take a phrase book along. You're in their country, remember. :) After my release from the hospital, one of the Doctors on Dr. Joya's team visited me at my hotel room each morning until I left. You won't find that kind of care in the US, at least not where I've been. All in all, my experience with Dr. Joya and his staff was excellent, and I'd recommend it to anyone. "
