So far things are going really well. Haven't been sick since the PCA's been off. It's a struggle to get all the protein and fluids down, but I'm doing it. I'm a little frustrated with the liquid diet but only a week left. I had done the 10 day liquid pre-surgery diet, so I'm on day 22.

Surgery in 4 days

Well I'm on day 7 of my pre-op liquid diet and have already lost at least 15 pounds. I haven't weighed myself in a couple of days but the last time I did I was down 12 pounds since my PAT's one week prior. I know I've lost more weight since then. The whole liquid diet thing isn't so bad. The anticipation of it is much worse than actually doing it. The protein shakes really help.
The worst part of this is that my family, even though they have been trying to be supportive, have been bringing some of my favorite foods into the house. Chinese, pizza and apple pie. I finally had to beg them to stop it. I can't believe I'm gone 7 days without a piece of food passing my lips. Just liquids.
The scale has made it easier to handle, that's for sure.

The worst part of this is that my family, even though they have been trying to be supportive, have been bringing some of my favorite foods into the house. Chinese, pizza and apple pie. Well it's Christmas Eve and I have so much to be happy for. Loving family. Wonderful son who I adore and who adores me. Great career and a job I love.
Yet here I am dreading having to go visit everyone tonight. I'm the largest I've ever been and I can't stand it another day. I was approved for surgery months ago. I started this journey in May of 2008 and did everything they wanted right away and had been using my cpap. I had originally hoped to have had my surgery this past summer but it just wasn't meant to be. I went to my manager in October to let them know I had been approved and we decided on January which isn't totally the end of the world. Just a couple months longer to feel like a big slob.
I keep reading all the blogs and looking at all the before and afters and I just can't wait to begin my after. I've been testing the protein shakes and so far the AES brand and Muscle Milk aren't too bad. I've got a few more I'd like to try before surgery.
My PAT's are scheduled for 1/7/08 and my surgery is scheduled for 1/22/08. I'm sure with the holidays the time will fly by. Well this is a short first blog but it is after all Christmas Eve. Happy Holidays to all!
